Justice

An alert reader e-mailed me the following news report:

A BRAZILIAN woman has been ordered by the country’s Supreme Court to pay a hefty fine to her husband for failing to mention that he was not the father of two of their children.

The Rio de Janeiro woman, whose identity was not disclosed, was ordered to pay her husband over $US100,000 ($120,170) for having hidden from him for almost two decades that the children in question were fathered by a lover, the court’s offices said yesterday.

The husband also had sought damages from his wife’s lover, the court said.

I am pleased with this decision.  Although twenty years of indentured servitude raising bastard children under a fog of lies should command a much larger fine than $120K, at least this is a step in the right direction toward legal reform.  Cuckoldry is the most underrated crime infesting our supposed advanced Western cultures and only massive, crippling monetary restitution along with jail time and public shaming for the guilty will change behaviors.  Yes, it’s time to bring back the scarlet letter.  The deceitful whore who gets impregnated by a man other than her husband and then schemes to dupe him into unwanted fatherhood should have her tramp stamp replaced with a florid, Olde English crimson ‘A’.  This will practically ensure a lifetime of getting pumped and dumped with no chance for marital relief.

Such a punishment will send a strong message to all fertile-age women:  don’t marry a beta you will likely cheat on.

I dream of the day when the Lifetime channel airs a cloying tearjerker about a saintly guy who is crushed to discover his three beloved children belong to his wife’s art class instructor.  Many close-up shots of his watery eyes and trembling lips will emphasize for effect the made-for-TV message that all women are morally depraved.

Very true, it’s deceitful what she did. And wrong, mind you. But he’s going to feel all better when he gets his $120,000 settlement? He’s asking money of his wife? If he can’t forgive her (which if I were him, I wouldn’t), then why not just divorce her? Oh wait, $120,000. She’s a lying bitch, and he’s (not close to, but still) almost just as bad for taking the cash? The way I see it, you have to options –

#1 If you’re choosing to stay married, then think about what your marriage is based on, and the fact that you want to continue it, talk about it, go to counseling, forgive her, and move on.

#2 Settle it the old fashioned way. Beat up the guy who slept with your wife, then kick her to the curb

And by the way..aren’t men lucky they can’t get pregnant? No evidence. If every wife got 120k each time their husband cheated (or hell, impregnated someone else…)……

  2. I can’t see how on earth cheating can be compared to raising someone else’s kids as your own b’c of a lie. That $120K? That’s nothing. How much do you think he’s paid for her “mistakes”? She didn’t want the father of her kids enough to be with him, but she was willing to still have the kids and do this to some other poor guy who was, I’m sure, a “better provider”.

Also; that says 2 children. $120K?! That woman should have her wages garnished for life. She should never get to stop paying.

I’m sorry, but I’m with Roissy 100% on this.

This is in Brazil. What she did in many states in this country is not a crime at all. In fact, once you begin paying for a child, in most states they make you continue, even if DNA says otherwise. The reason for this is supposed to be “for the good of the children.”

For more info on why this is, Google radio host Tom Leykis and listen to his podcasts, or Google men’s advocate Glenn Sacks and read his blog.

I’m not saying it’s equivilent (sp?) to cheating. It’s obviously worse.

But why the hell is he suing her if he’s still going to stay married to her? THAT’S the part that doesn’t make sense to me.

I go with my option #1. Kick her ass to the curb. And keep the money.

With that said, if a man over there impregnates someone who is not his wife, does he have to pay his wife?

    INPY – I’m rethinking and I don’t think I made myself clear.

What she did was COMPLETELY wrong and not only wrong, but unforgivable in my opinion

But with that said, What I’m not getting is WHY is he staying with her? Isn’t it a little odd for him to stay in the marriage AND sue her? Then I guess I have to wonder what the marriage is based on. She’s a lying bitch, and he’s suing her but STAYING with her? Why would he stay? He’s obviously seeking payment for her wrongs.

That rationale doesn’t seem to make any sense to me.

  6. I would asume that the divorce is coming next, or is already in progress, wouldn’t you? I thin kit would be the second line of the story if he was staying with ehr after this.

And if he impregnates someone else, he isn’t asking his wife to care of it, is he? That’s what she did. It’s not even the same argument. One is cheating, the other is cheating and making someone else be responsible for it.

Or maybe I can find one with values!

While objectively, I don’t disagree with the notion that the woman should be forced to “make him whole” so to speak, I can’t help but wonder what kind of person puts kids through that, especially if he’s raised them as his own, their entire lives.

Frankly, I think everyone’s better off being divorced from this situation.

Well, I didn’t assume a divorce was next, that’s why I can’t really figure this whole thing out. The news article mentions nothing of a divorce.

According to the article, the fine was “for having hidden from him for almost two decades,” not to refund him for supporting someone else’s child. THAT is why I said “With that said, if a man over there impregnates someone who is not his wife, does he have to pay his wife?”

Don’t get me wrong, the woman was completely wrong to keep something like that from her husband, and to stick him with the bill of raising someone else’s kid without his knowledge. It’s unimaginable and unthinkable, and he should kick her ass to the curb.

But his actions are questionable as well. He raised those kids for over 20 years. I’m sure he loved them as his own. And I’ll be honest, I was so furious with both parents in this situation that I really hadn’t considered Dagny’s point – “Anybody think about how the kids are going to feel when they realize that the only dad they’ve ever known, thought they were worth suing about (and not in a good way)?”

  11. It should be pointed out that Brazil’s per capita GDP is only about $9000 compared to the U.S.’s $43,000. So if you were in Brazil hearing this story, it might sound more like $500,000 settlement would sound to us.

If he makes $14000 a year and she makes $5000, this might be quite penal. Granted this is Brazil, a land of great inequality, and there is a good chance these are two wealthy people. The guy did hire a lawyer and take it to the supreme court. But I just wanted to point out that looking at the absolute fine, may not be the best way to judge the fairness of it.

In some perverse way, her cheating seems to imply a high sex drive, and thus, that makes her more attractive when compared to a loyal, yet low sex drive female. Plus, the red A tattoo is extra slutty. 🙂

So yes, I’d take a chance on her. Besides, the alpha male’s sperm is probably better than mine.

Oddly, such a movie would be possible on Lifetime, but instead of the message being that women are morally depraved, it ends up telling the beta women that they’re better and more moral than the “alpha” women. IIRC, I think there have been a few movies like that where the man is “rescued” from alpha bitch by a beta female on Lifetime.

Yes, I frigging know this because like a good mommy’s boy, I have sat to watch these silly movies with her. God bless the man who invented laptops with 4 hr batteries.

In fact, once you begin paying for a child, in most states they make you continue, even if DNA says otherwise. The reason for this is supposed to be “for the good of the children.”

The reason the courts do this is because of the idea that there’s a bond between that child and the cuckholded male. This child believes that man is his father, and that man has poured resources into that child, and severing that link screws over the child, and ends up turning the child into a burden in the future on society if support is dropped. IMHO, child support in these cases *should* be optional, but I’m leery about forcing biological fathers to pay primarily because married women can lie about their marital state when cheating. To solve this problem in the future, we can implement DNA testing at birth, and give 6 month periods in which the father can “bail” on his parental rights if the test proves infidelity.

As I’ve said before, I’d pay the CS because even if it’s not my child biologically, and I’d fight tooth and nail for custody of my children. I just can’t abandon children if there’s an emotional relationship between us, irregardless of biological orgins.

Wouldn’t it maybe be best if people just had freedom to choose how they handle relationships and there infidelity in marriage or choose to be faithful without the government getting involded in either side of the equation. Also like how they raise there kids or not raise there kids. People made fun of the church making you be married for life and not granting divorce but now the government helps keep two people together for a life term of financial servitude to a woman they don’t want to be or doesn’t want to be with them anymore. Now men are like I’ll get you back I’ll have the government take your money now. It is like basic training in the Army. They say they are making you do the push-ups and shit for a punishment for some wrongdoing. You realize though that you are in basic training which is to get you in shape so you are going to be doing that whether you do wrong or not. Yet it usually works to seperate people into groups against a percieved group messing up which is making them work so hard. Really though it is just the Drill Seagent who has to get the group in shape and he uses the excuse of certain things to have people help others conform for him. If people realize they are going to have to do push ups and situps anyway they don’t fight with each other there anger is directed at the Drill Seargent who is actually the one oppresing them not there fellow man. Divide and Conquer and men and woman are being divided and conquered so that not just 50 percent of the people but a 100 percent of the working age people can be cheap slave labor to the economy with no real time to devote to the children who everyone seems so concerned about yet what have you done for them lately.

Not really, if the guy, even if he is a Beta, does the following:

    – screens the girls he dates for sluttiness, including getting to know the family the girl was raised in and their values

    – marries a woman who is just over his attractiveness threshold; overreaching leads to trouble

    – sleeps with one eye open 1: is always alert to his wife’s waning interest in him and takes immediate corrective action; in most cases, it’s enough to just back off, let her touch you first for a while, etc.

    – sleeps with one eye open 2: observes his children for the presence of his genes (physical features, mannersims, quirks, etc) and when in doubt, tests. With the genetic variety in America, even within the white racial group, it’s unlikely that a cheatin’ wife would have dallied with her husband’s look-alike.

    – most importantly, keep his wife in love with him by always acting like a man and remembering what it is that attracted her to him in the first place.

One of the most sensible things that any man can do if he’s interested about keeping his wife. The same is true for women who want to keep their husbands.

keep his wife in love with him by always acting like a man and remembering what it is that attracted her to him in the first place.

Social constraints, a lack of better options, and low levels of interest in the same sex are why they fell in “love”.

This is a social myth. In nowhere in the human or animal kingdom does on male raise another’s child.

Here’s what does happen: The new male often kills the first male’s offspring to make room for his own. That happens in the animal kingdom and it’s called nature taking its course. When it happens with humans it’s called “mom’s boyfriend gets arrested.”

How did this false myth get started and why do people keep repeating it?

David, while you say a lot of sensible things, your point of view on marraige (the “sexless and boring” thing) comes from your all-theory-no-practice point of view.

Simple, it’s because marriage is boring and sexless. The disparities between the male and female sex drives leads to less than optimal sex occurances for the male, and unappealing sex experiences for the female. Add the stress of living together and raising children along with the boredom of the same partner of a long-term period, and there’s little wonder why comedians use marriage as a whipping post. Why get married when you can have pump and dump sex with good looking women, and you can dump them when they age? I mean, there are great emotional benefits to marriage, but you can get that without the $25K ceremony or years of boring painful sex.

I suspect that the people who are happy with marriage are those with low expectations, no sex drive, religious, or are hideous ugly and happy that that somebody married them in the first place.

#1 – “Simple, it’s because marriage is boring and sexless. The disparities between the male and female sex drives leads to less than optimal sex occurances for the male, and unappealing sex experiences for the female.”

Umm.. not true in all cases. I can attest to that in a factual manner.

#2 – “I suspect that the people who are happy with marriage are those with low expectations, no sex drive, religious, or are hideous ugly and happy that that somebody married them in the first place.”

How about this – people who are happy accept certain things about one another. Or better yet, people in happy marriages have things in common – expectations, sex, etc.

It doesn’t have to be the way you say it is.

Marriage is poor kludge that doesn’t work in the modern world and combines sex and emotions poorly. Marriage is boring because having sex with the same ugly person is boring. People who are satisfied with the same boring sex have low expectations and demands for their sex lives. Those of us who want to have interesting sex will have sex with as many hot people as possible, and for those of us who can’t get hot people, we hold out with mastburatory tools than to degrade ourselves with ugly partners.

Men should make sure every one of their kids is paternity tested at birth to avoid all doubt. It shouldn’t even be a big deal. I am thinking it also might be an idea to have a child before marriage, so if it turns out to be a bastard, you can get out of the responsibility more easily. If it is yours, you can marry her at least knowing your genes will live on.

Startingtoday, the man was not wrong in this case. If anything, what he won was miniscule in comparison to the lost time and money he invested in supporting kids that are NOT HIS. His wife deserves to pay for perpetuating this lie. The man has no biological responsibility to those kids, and he has already given them much more than he should have.

Every man should read the female comments, and understand the ‘direction’ they are coming from. This is a Team Woman issue, in that enough women do it that the defence of Women kicks in and all women are simply evaluating how far they can push in the “Women are Blameless, Oppressed, and, in any case, Completely Right” direction. If the woman posters thought they could get away with saying the husband is responsible for “Not being a stand up guy” and he should have “kept her interested” and “Why does he HATE his children, men are such creeps!” they would say it. Their goal is to defend Women, whatever the hell the Women may be doing, while keeping ‘moral’ legitimacy.
