while i don’t necessarily disagree with this characterization, these pictures are neither here nor there. if you went out into this country looking for dignified people and strong communities, you would find them. and, likewise, if you could hop in a time machine and take your cell phone camera back to the “golden years”, you would come back with plenty of trashy pictures.

the difference is in our collective mythologies and to what we choose to call attention. people used to hide their trashy behavior, because they cared about their standing in the community. now communities don’t matter as much because we have the bureaugamy off big government to take care of us. this is the point bill cosby made when he spoke about how pregnant teens used to be sent off to some aunt somewhere; now they go on maury and admit that they’re not even sure who the father is.

  19. Since we’re men on here, I’d like to hear some possible solutions. I’d like to see someone lay out how we can live a family-centered life on one income, afford to send 2-3 kids to college, and have money for retirement.

Unlike many other posters, I don’t think there’s a big conspiracy or bogeyman out there pushing feminism/hyper capitalism. It appears to be the natural result of our economy that requires ever more needy consumers and interchangeable labor inputs. Feminism and extreme individualism seem like the natural philosophies of such an economic system.

But let’s say you see through the matrix, you don’t want to live the PC beta life, you don’t want to let rational economic decision-making dictate how you will raise your family…how do you do it? Does anyone have a site explaining how to live on one income?

In a vacuum, it would seem easy to support a family on $75,000. Obviously 98% of the world does it. But in the US economy, in order to find the 75,000 job, you have to live in a city that support these salaries. Housing in these areas, in safe neighborhoods where you would be comfortable raising your kids, is expensive. And most americans landing jobs in that range had to obtain a graduate degree of some sort and are between 75 and 150k in debt upon receiving their diplomas. And the job market is extremely hostile to labor right now. The employers can almost entirely dictate the terms of employment, and when they grind you down after a few years, there’s 6 unemployed guys waiting for your spot. Again, its not an evil conspiracy or anything. Its companies acting in their rational self-interest (which corporations are required to do by law). We have a very efficient and productive economy that does not require increasing labor inputs. My generation of worker will be a lifelong journeyman, working 3-5 year stints as almost an independent contractor for several companies, moving frequently. I look at my two small kids and really hope I’m wrong, but the macro trends of the US economy are becoming pretty obvious.

If someone has figured out how to negotiate this landscape, please let me know.

the only solution is the dissolution of the Welfare State in its entirety.

everything we value arose in response to the harshness of reality. death, disease and poverty lurking around every corner. family is the ultimate safety net

by ameliorating the consequences of reality with the welfare state we inevitably destroyed the need for family–but the values that created family created civilization and with the family, so goes civilization out the door.

But how does the welfare state contribute to the plight of those making a good-faith effort to succeed? If anything, it keeps the potentially dangerous satiated and fat. I’d rather them be spending their days walking the aisles of wal-mart than organizing a revolution or becoming sophisticated criminals. The welfare state is just an extension of our crime-fighting apparatus, in my mind. The next step is creating incentives for voluntary sterilization and early term abortions. Its a numbers game.

But for those of us trying to make it work, it isn’t the welfare state that is holding us back. A family of four (two dependents) making 75,000 pays hardly any taxes.

Everybody debates Euro vs. American health care systems, but I think the real Euro/Canadian success story is their education system. The Euro’s have a much more successful model. The average european is WAY more learned than the average american. If the government can do anything to massage macro economic trends, (which I’m not sure it can; at least successfully), it can get the money lending parasites out of our higher education system. We need a merit-based systems from K through a professional degree. Our promising engineers, doctors, lawyers, teachers need to be debt-free upon graduation, or substantially debt free. The current debt-based system is holding back an entire generation of potential entreprenuers and innovation.

He married a stunning beauty queen who I never really met – she passed on when I was an infant – but “know” her through her still-living siblings, who are the very salt of the earth. Although uneducated by today’s standards “PaPoo” made sure that his children all had the opportunity to attend college. My father did so, served in the military, came back to finish college and marry Mom (also a beauty queen), earned a master’s degree and entered a professional career, bought five acres outside of town and built the home I grew up in (and where he and Mom live today), retired to maintain a productive small farm, and is today a renowned naturalist who often teaches at a local university. He and Mom had some rocky times but they’re still married after fifty-plus years. He wasn’t much of a hands-on father (he left child-rearing to Mom) and I can’t remember the last time he said “I love you” but he always put family first and made sure we understood that there were few problems that couldn’t be solved by perspiration and hard work. I do my best to live those values and pass them down to my kids. Lord knows I’ve racked up many failures (the most significant being the end of my marriage, which could have been prevented…) but I pick myself up, dust off, and move on.

My two teens are starting to catch on.

And I’m delighted to see that my son has much more natural game than I ever did. He banged his manager last week. Is that cool or what?

  35. To follow j r’s thread, are there other factors at play than just community. Roissy points out ‘poorness’ as a quality of more respectable times. So to play devil’s advocate, do the capitalistic distribution models of companies like Wal-Mart bear some blame in feeding a generation of fatties? How and when in history could a relatively isolated girl in Kentucky or Ohio (randomly picked places) grow so fat without a Wal-Mart setting up shop in a town of 2,000? Before Wal-Mart and similar distribution models came on the scene that same girl would have to tend a garden, milk a cow, or at least toil in a small factory pretty damn hard to pay for one or two of the luxuries she now buys in quantities from every spot on the globe (mainly Chinese goods and distantly produced groceries).

Of course, her Federal sugar daddy insures she always has some pocket change, etc.

So how does this distortion come about? Is it purely a lack of character, tenuous divisions of labor, labor arbitrage, governmental interference in almost every sector of our lives, a genetic clusterfuck in the last 50 years, or just purely nostalgia?

I live in the supposedly affordable midwest. You can’t find a 3 bed, 2 bath (2400 sq ft) home for under 200k. And really, a family making 75k a year shouldn’t spend any more than that on housing. I remember just 10 years ago that you could find decent homes for 200k.

I understand the short-term pain, but maybe this real estate inflation bubble needs to pop all the way back to where it was 10 years ago. Stimilus, home-buyer tax credits…good intentions maybe (or excellent lobbying by realtors and home builders), but the stimilus propping-up paradigm may be doing more harm than good, assuming its even accomplishing the short term results it was intended to produce.

To decry the excessive gluttony without also decrying excess lust means exactly what it means. It sends the signal that looking good is moral, and that engaging in casual sex and taking advantage of the sexual free for all isn’t a sin.

That’s not too different from the poor fatties taking advantage of the welfare system, in the end.

I think most of us who are somewhat privileged can look back through their lineage and see how the principles your father and grandfather clung to got you to where you are. But looking at the landscape now, I don’t see where we have the same opportunities. Your forefathers had success in agriculture. That entire market is now dominated by 5-6 global corporations. The only market opening is in high-end organic hippy farming, and the big companies are moving in that market aggressively.

That’s just one example, but the larger point is that it doesn’t appear to me that the “pull yourself up by your bootstraps” mentality has any place in todays market. Local retailers, restaurants, farmers, insurance companies, pharmacies…those currently in existence are being pushed out. There’s no room for market entrants.

  42. Well an update for all of those who advised me regarding that chick I was talking to:

We ended up deciding to meet at a park at 8pm, then walk around find a nice place to pre-drink, then go to the bar she suggested at 10/10:30.

I met her at said park at said park at 8. She looked very hot, and speaking to her brought back a flood of memories from Saturday night. She has a loud laugh, and did anyone ever see the Seinfeld where George went out with the accountant who turned out to be insane, and called Jerry “Jerome” in a loud shrill voice? The tone of her voice was similar to that. So about 5 minutes in I was thinking “oh, she’s just crazy, now it all makes sense.”

We found a place with a patio on the water, and sat down there for some drinks. She’s pretty “alpha” for a girl, in the sense she kept trying to give me her “evil-eye”, and when the beers didn’t look very full she called the server on it. She pulled her wallet out and I told her to show me her ID, and was surprised to find out she was only 23 (I’m 26). Anyways, it went pretty well there, conversation flowed well and all sorts of protracted eye-contact where her cheeks would be all puckered up because she was fighting back a smile.

We left that place and were walking to the bar she had suggested. On the way up we were pretty touchy-feely, leaning into one another, holding hands, etc. We got to the bar, and seated ourselves. It was great to be with “the hot chick” for once. There were all these “higher-beta” chicks around (by that I mean stuck up girls who look superficially hot, but on closer inspection have a flat butt, mediocre face, etc.). I’m particularly resentful of this type because, while arguably on the same opposite-sex-attraction level as me, they often have an inflated view of themselves, and demand the alpha-est of dudes (Chateau explained this somewhere). I locked eyes with one of them and if a look could say “haha, the girl I’m with is hotter than you” then surely mine did it.

We stayed seated and drinking for several songs once the band started playing. The girl was really into the music, playing an air piano, singing along (she’s in her church choir, has a good voice), and just being bubbly. I was making sure to sit in a way so she was leaning into me, and never the other way around. We made out a few times with varying degrees of intensity. Eventually we went dancing, and that’s how we spent the remaining hour or two. It was pretty hot, she could really move her butt, like a Brazilian girl or something.

We left that place, and the 800-pound gorilla in the room was “am I gonna bring this girl home with me?”. Unfortunately, the answer was no. It was not a great surprise, as she’d alluded to one of her slutty friends having “different moral values” than her. We did have a heavier makeout session than the other night. Notably, when I had my hand on her tit she giggled and moved it down. I did have a hand partially down her pants, playing with the string part of her thong, which she was cool with.

It’s hard to say if I’ll be able to get any action from her before I leave (in 2 weeks now). I’m away for the weekend, so that will bring us to nearly just one week. We do have plans to get together Monday, to do what, we’ll see. I’d say she’s interested but does not give it up easily at all. I’m going to go out with her again, and if things don’t progress further be done with her.

They pay more taxes than most of the world. Further, what do they get for these taxes?

Cannot live in the city, where there is a semblance of culture and walkability unless you enjoy getting raped and murdered on occasion. So they have to move to the soul crushing suburbs. But their house has granite counter-tops. They can sip wine and live the good life.

And then what? Well, you have to commute to job. And of course we have no trains or subways…even though even goddamn Bangkok managed to build a pretty OK system. Gas is expensive. Have to get 2-3 cars.

And then, because the schools are full of illiterates and self esteem touting nannies you have to send them to private school…you know…so they don’t get shot or have jamal’s baby at fourteen.

And you have no medical coverage so gotta buy that. And car insurance. And life insurance. And you have to save for retirement because the government spent all of the social security money on non-pension related matters.

So pray tell me, what the FUCK do I get with my taxes aside from dead 18 year old boys in Iraq and big fat bonuses for the hostile bankster oligarchs that really run the place.

  45. Sidewinder, that’s only going to worsen as the market continues to globalize. Soon the major national corporations won’t be able to compete with major international corporations. In many countries they already can’t. You say American women can’t compete with foreign women? Soon American companies that don’t internationalize won’t be able to compete either.

America has positioned itself as an international capitalist competitor, and the corporations no longer have any nationalist sentiments. Cola Cola does more business abroad than it does here, as does McDonalds, KFC, Pepsi, P&G, etc. Profit-wise they still make a good turn within the 50 states, but as the economy worsens and consumer spending goes down, the major corps have their sights elsewhere.

So it’s capitalism and consumerism, and ultimately human greed for money and power that has degraded the condition of traditional values and family. Notice how many photos of “Now” are of people shopping, consuming, wearing clothing with corporate slogans or obvious sexual display. But nobody wants to criticize capitalism because it’s the best we’ve managed to come up with as a species.

You know something’s messed up when the major media outlets say consumers shouldn’t save up and should continue to spend, when people are out of work ad have nothing to spend. Why are they out of work? The jobs have moved overseas. Corporations have zero loyalty to America; their loyalties are to money. Not the dollar. Any good currency. Why are you brainwashed lot so loyal to corporations?

This is a good question. The way I’ve approached the problem is by looking at how it was done in the past. The major things that people did then, that aren’t done now is more people owned their own businesses, people had more children, and women stayed at home. Also men didn’t act like women.

The approach I’m taking is that the man works, and the woman oversees the home. (Before the feminists bitch, consider the following, If the wife stays at home cooking, cleaning, and raising children, you effectively don’t have to hire the part time cook, maid, and nanny that SWPL HAVE to have in the big cities). What this means is that while I work my wife stays home with our baby. This isn’t so hot moneywise initially, but as we have calculated, as we have more and more children, there is a point, at about the time that the first kid turns seven, that they become a net producer. At this point the children start to take over doing chores, and as they get older they do more chores, make dinner, mow the lawn, etc. The result of this is instilling a very specific value set.

By forcing each kid to work and contribute to the group as a whole, they understand their role in the group and this in turn strengthens the family community. Likewise, as each kid gets older, they can take more and more of the work that is done by the parents. With the kids taking on the majority of the workload, it frees up my and my wife’s time to focus on things such as working on the business we own.

The other critical thing here is that the kids don’t get freebies. They want an xbox, get a job. They want a new cell phone, get a job. They want a… well you get the idea. This keeps them from becoming overly entitled materialists. It also keeps expenses down. Another positive, is that the more kids you have the lower your costs per kid become. So two kids actually cost more per child than 5 or 6. With the arguement for having lots of kids being good, comes the question of how to support them financially.

The answer really is try to own a business or don’t waste money on frivolous shit. An example of this was, when I was house shopping. This dude was losing his house, but every room had cable, and an HD flatscreen. Alternatively, I’ve seen lots of families with ten kids doing great on 50k a year. It really is about money management. The best solution is to own your own business, which is what people did back then. The bonus to this is, you have garunteed income, and you can have your wife and kids work with the biz too. This is great because the kids are free/cheap labor, learn responsibility, and have yet another dose of community shot into them, plus your wife has to have something to do other than sex and making sure the kids do their chores.

Retirement is easy, as the kids leave, they know how to get and keep a job, and the way things are now, work ethic means they’ll get promoted faster, due to all the other lazy peons. If they get some scholarships and work their way through, you the parent, have a low bill, particularly if you saved for their tuition in advance. Their jobs pays for rent, food, and books, you cover tuition with scholarships and loans. The best part is as each kid leaves the house, you spend less money on them and have MORE income available. By the time they are all out of the house you have a ton of play money coming in, which combined with any saving you did, should ensure financial security in old age. If you own your own business, this is when you keep a percentage of what you own, but make your kids actually run it.

The key, as I’ve said before, is instilling the same community focused values in your kids, prioritizing things, and not being afraid to leave a deadbeat kid in the lurch. My dad told me point blank, if I ever got arrested, my ass was staying in jail, no bail for me. That kind of thing, will keep the kids in line. The biggest thing is you have to be alpha to have this system work, which is what everyone was in the past, so you don’t have to worry about your sons being beta. They will learn from your example. If you are alpha, you will have a hot wife, so your daughters will be high status and able to shit test with the best of them. You can’t really lose!

Unless your kids are going to get engineering or science degrees, university is a waste of time. My arts degree was very little value added from what I could have gotten myself just from reading the books on the required reading list.

  49. Indeed,

I don’t disagree and counter-productive ideological adherence to “free market” principles are as nostalgic (and ultimately useless) as civil war re-enactments.

Corporations aren’t the enemy, however. They are doing what is rational and required by law. And it has resulting in the US being the center of the most profitable, efficient and productive economy in world history. They are so productive and efficient that they no longer require the labor inputs that they used to. And the labor they do require is relatively unskilled and can be provided overseas for cheap. The problem is one of distribution of the fruits of this system.

But no country or regime has figured out a way to successfully redistribute wealth without that system leading to huge market imperfections (see recent low-income housing efforts, subsidized student loans, medicare/medicaid) or much worse.

And whatever aspects of the market corporations don’t dominate, the State has taken over or over-regulated.

My crystal ball tells me that the redistribution will take the most inefficient and corrupt form: the gradual and incremental expansion of the State into everything. They will redistribute the wealth in the form of half-ass social services and total-ass subsidization of their own bureaucracy.

there are a lot of opportunities for entrepreneurship and free enterprise. an example: look at the choices you have for furniture thse days. you can buy cheap, poorly made crap from big box stores. or you can buy well made furniture that is prohibitively expensive because it’s made by some “luxury” brand.

that lack of a middle ground tells me that there is space for no-frills, well-made woodworking. if a carpenter opened a workshop like that in my neighborhood, i would definitely buy his stuff. and i can’t imagine that i’m the only one.

the problem is that opening and running a business takes skills that the average carpenter does not have. urban real estate is incredibly high and i can only imagine the number of licences and permits you would need. the regulatory hurdles and the startup capital are huge barriers for the average person.

this is what most people don’t realize. they think, “we have to stop these evil corporations from taking over.” so we pass a bunch of laws and regulations. of course, corporations love laws and regulations; they keep small businesses out of the market.

However, as a man with great game he gains immensely from today’s world of reliable birth control, more open sexual mores, and large anonymous cities. He reminds me of that rat-faced character from the movie Akira.

In that movie the rat-faced character, Nezu, is a member of the ruling council, i.e. he benefits greatly from the current situation: he’s wealthy, he has a lot of political influence and power, etc. However, he also plays the part of radical sympathizer; he takes money and offers limited support, mostly in the form of words, to an underground group. However, when push comes to shove, that is when things in the current situation start breaking down, he shows his true colors and fucks over the groups he alleged to support.

Roissy is the just the same way. He’ll say some pretty words to sate his base, mostly conservatives. I don’t know if he outright claims to want to return to the values of the past, but he comes across as desiring it. I sincerely doubt, however, that he would actually do anything to further it. Actions count more than words. His actions, or at least the ones he shares on this blog, are those of an enemy to people desiring an era of stable marriage and family. He and others like him fuck women left and right, “ruining” them by letting them “experience his alphaness”, and taking away the years of women’s highest sexual market value. I don’t know about everyone else, but my allies don’t fuck my girlfriend, or give advice on how to do so .

I believe that game is a wonderful tool, especially for LTR, but not all those who practice game are wonderful people.

So pray tell me, what the hell do I get with my taxes aside from dead 18 year old boys in Iraq and big fat bonuses for the hostile bankster oligarchs that really run the place?

In fact things have not changed very much in a few thousand years of human civilization, although technology has changed the landscape quite a bit.

What’s so great about money? What’s so rational about it? A computer glitch of a few misplaced zeros can cause widespread Wall Street panic. It’s all illusions, mutually agreed upon ideas (currency to trade and exchange for actually useful things) that turn into vapor and junk as soon as people stop believing in it.

See how inherently unstable this system is, with profits, quarters, investments, stocks, bonds, moving money around, buying/selling, ad infinitum. As soon as things look down you get a crash and recession. It’s simplification that becomes overcomplication in order to obfuscate the truth — most people are getting ripped the fuck off.

If, as the blog espouses, it’s all for sex and survival, there are other ways to go about it. Money has become an end goal as opposed to just journey to a different destination. Not everything has to be bought and sold.

Why do people want mountain dew and pepsi cola instead of some clean drinking water? Evolution, taste for sweet, caffeine, marketing, blah blah. But people did fine with water for a damned long time. Potatoes as opposed to potato chips, real meat as opposed to bread-stuffed hamburger meat, but there’s not as much profit or markup in selling stuff raw.

Back to redistribution and welfare. It’s not just ideology, it’s also a matter of PR. Either you have disgustingly fat poor folks, or you have people starving to death on the streets of slums in a pool of their own piss, like in India. Neither looks very good, but the first one makes the country look richer. If you say just let those gibbering fools die in the streets, there’d be some serious backlash on the world stage. So it continues.

Lots of corporations have higher than the GDPs of small nations. Some larger nations, too. The state only still has the power it has due to the military, and you can’t go back to pre-WWII days when the military was for “self-defense” only.

That’s more corporate money, because the state doesn’t own the factories that produce the military equipment and arsenal. Tons more waste in corporate welfare than any of us can know. Billions disappeared from defense budget — where did it go? Poof. Gone. That’s the power of money right there.

No doubt, but Catherine Omega Jones is right, too.

Watch film of the Laying in State of Kennedy (1963) and then video of that of Reagan (2003). Look how people were dressed at each. Even at a state funeral for a president of the United States people can’t muster the dignity to dress appropriately. Hell, they probably don’t even own decent clothes.

Similarly, look at photograhs of city crowd scenes in America anytime up to about the mid-sixties. Look at all the men in suits, the women in dresses. When people went out in “public” they tried to present themselves as proper citizens, in respect to others as well as themselves. Then go out and look around any urban street scene today. It is an assault on taste and class.

Probably the saddest image in the group is the one of somebody’s granny wearing in the must public of venues, a supermarket, a t-shirt printed with “Fuck This.”

That is not money. Those are federal reserve notes. Money backed by…..um….a promise.

Anyway, Real money; what we have used for thousands of years is either gold or a currency backed by gold (and maybe wheat and a basket of other goods, I don’t remember).

It wasn’t until the 1910s when the the management of our money was handed over to private interests (i.e. the federal reserve) that money became worthless (gradually).

The fed lends to the government, by the way. Interestingly enough we have never had so many wars and debt as when the fed was created. Isn’t that so interesting? There can’t be a correlation between an institution lending money to the government and the government acquiring an unmanageable amount of debt, no?

So what’s so great about money? It is a store of wealth and a means of saving for future troubles. What is so great about federal reserve notes? Nothing at all.

Worse yet, google “fiat gold” or “fiat gold summer.”

There are ways mitigate the lack of future time orientation in proles. Subsidizing or even encouraging them to have more children (more kids = more welfare) is not an appropriate way to reduce poverty. I believe in welfare, however, as your fellow men and women are giving you their money, the aid should come with some caveats such as mandatory birth control or a one child policy. People respond to incentives. If you incentivize them to breed like rabbits, they will. If the spigot of cash is turned off if they choose to have a second child, then I believe most people will act in self interest and avoid such an outcome. Further, food stamps should be redeemable for two types of food: Meat and vegetables. That will take care of the poverty epidemic.

  74. Fascist is faux-Marxist on a national level. States don’t own the corporations as in Marxism, but they are in bed with the corporations. States are like beta husbands to harpy wives, handing out cash so the wife can play abroad (corporations offshore) and providing for children that aren’t theirs (illegals). Heh, maybe there’s an analogy this board can understand. Any “regulations” the state tries to lay down are just paper tiger. The corporations know that the beta state will clean up the mess. And the analogy gets better. When was the last time a major time corporate bigshot served a prison term for anything? Likewise with errant wives.

There’s no going back to the good old days. “Then” there was no multinational entity. “Then” machines didn’t do most of the work of people. “Then” manual labor was more necessary at the lower to lower middle levels. To go back to “then,” the very technological advances that led to modern luxuries would have to be undone. Or, people pretend to work and talk to each other about laws or politics or numbers or trade stocks to make it seem like they’re doing something. Lawyers, therapists, traders and advisers of all sorts didn’t exist in any significant numbers back in the day. They still don’t exist in less advanced countries.

Sad. For how supposed advanced and smart this country’s people are, we still can’t figure out how to have real “freedom.” We’re all just bunches of slaves to the corrupt and degenerate system, fighting for scraps. At least those going after food and sex, glorifying gluttony and lust, are satisfying more primal urges. The point of state-corporate-military complexes? Power, money, and? It makes little sense. Maybe that’s why I’m just a small timer.

money is any object that is generally accepted as a medium of exchange. money backed by gold is still backed by a promise; the promise that gold is going to be worth roughly the same when you got the money as when you spend the money. if a new source of gold floods the market, then the value of your money goes down. there’s still inflation and deflation with the gold standard. we use fiat currency because it allows for flexible monetary policy. and that is advantageous at times.

and that relation between fiat currency and war is spurious at best. when currency was hard backed by gold and other precious metals countries still fought wars; mostly wars over gold and other precious metals.

we have some serious fiscal issues to deal with, and that is tangentially related to our monetary system. they are, however, not the same thing.

  77. I imagine Sidewinder as Niles Crane. Smart, rich, but without the right ideas on societal reformation. He can preach on debt-free education AND bitch about the oligarchy/fascist/whatever regime that’s running things… that was a hoot.

The key to any free nation is the vast ownership of property by a vast number of its citizens. Acres. The Jeffersonian ideal. The idea that owning a suburban house on less than half an acre surrounded by others is the American dream is wrong. It’s a scheme that runs back to the early Progressive Era and finds its beginnings with Alexander Hamilton’s pretentious cloning of the British mercantile system.

What Sidewinder mocks as nostalgia and quaint is what can save this country (something I doubt will happen, but I always hope). Destroying the corporate system (a left wing creation), extracting the federal government from the national economy, shutting the border and ejecting the illegals, the states taking back powers usurped by the feds, the boxing of the ears of the judicial activist culture…

A lot of things to do. Like I said, probably to never happen, but if anyone wants any of this to happen, it starts with the revelation that none of this will happen – the reversal of feminism, the reversal of Woodrow Wilson corporatism, the reversal of national decay for a little while – if we do not adopt the mindset of the tribe (anarchism, libertarianism…). A decentralized ideology to promote decentralized thoughts and the promotion of a strong family.

I know most of this does not make sense to the normal citizen, but neither does sticking to the no-fault wife-nuclear family you can’t support due to inflation. I say aim to get out of the government-corporate-leftist supported anti-civilization culture and go find yourself a good submissive wife, buy some land, buy some guns, find a niche in the economy of where you live or join local law enforcement, and be happy in building your own little empire away from the zombie-inducing, soul destroying urban life that’s the bane of our entire, idealistic nation.

Industrial culture will most definitely decline, and likely collapse in a heap due to resource depletion.

Only fossil fuels have allowed the world to swell to 7 Billion humans. Before the industrial revolution and the onset of the fossil fuel age, incident sunlight and its biological products were the energy sources that fueled the world, which could only muster about a billion people, and that number was more or less static for hundreds, maybe thousands of people.

In essence, fossil fuels are 300 million year old sunlight, stored and fixed in carbon bonds in living plant tissue that was around then, and which became fossilized.

We’ve used up all the easy-to extract oil. Liquid fuels comprise 85% of the total energy we in industrial cultures use. Soon, within the next 5 years, 10 tops, we’ll see more price shocks & supply shortages. Fossil fuels, and oil in particular, are the ur-commodity, the commodity on which all other productive economic activity is based.

At some point, even mighty Wal-mart’s business model will crumble due to the excessive cost of energy inputs and transport. An article in Bloomberg based on a recent book pegged that number at about $14/gal for diesel. Long before walmart closes its doors, lots of other big-box stores with long supply chains will close. When that happens, the fat sclubs seen above will starve, and/or cause mass social unrest and disorder. It’s been said that any society is 7 meals away from revolution–take away food for 3 or 4 days, and rioting in the streets ensues.

At that point, game may consist of having stores of food, water, and ammunition (and the iron to use it) and being able to defend one’s self and family and worthy friends & females.

It’s all happening in slow-motion now, but almost no one sees it because the human capacity for denial is massive, but all it would take would be one major trigger event–a nuclear attack in the middle east (or anywhere, reallly), a major earthquake to hit Saudi Arabia, etc, etc. But we’ll never see the “Black Swan” event coming. That’s why it’s a black swan event.

So, gamesmen, consider also becoming “preppers” as well, that will be big pimpin’ game not too long from now.

FYI, a Shell oil economist named King Hubert (an alpha if there ever was one) saw this shit coming way back in the 50’s. He made some really unpopular statements at that time, such as that US domestic oil production would peak in the early 1970s, and that the US should prepare. No one listened to him. US domestic oil production peaked in 1973, and the oil crisis of the 1970’s ensued. Other people took his work, and extrapolated it to global oil production. The resulting power curves showed that world oil production would peak in the mid to late 2000’s. And worldwide oil production has remained stagnant at around 83-85 million barrels per day, while price volatility remains the order of the day.

Bottom line–the most adaptable survive, and it will take significant adaptation now that we’re on the back side of the energy depletion bell curve.

The promise of gold, and the promise of nothing are two very different things. In theory, notes backed by gold are worth something. They are worth gold. The government not backing that promise is different than the government not having anything to back the currency with from the start (as is our current problem).

Federal reserve notes are technically worthless. And worth less every year.

  82. Fiat money is old news. Yes, it’s terrible. Yes, it’s screwed things up. Yes, it’s essentially printing money out of thin air at first, and now just generated by computers. But this is the digital age. Every country is doing it. There’s not enough gold to support all the world’s nations backing up their currency with real value. It’s naive to think America could remain on gold-backed currency forever. The Euro had a dip in value not too long ago. Some theorize the Amero isn’t far away (Canadian currency was once worth less than the dollar; things change).

Oil as fuel. Yes, it’s going to get scarce, pricey, and ridiculously so. It’s also precisely why there’s such backlash and resistance againt alternative sources of energy. The people with the resources want to milk it for all it’s worth. Electric, solar, and other types of energy have both state and corporate interests to overcome. The conversion from coal-powered energy was not this difficult because the massive monopolizing hegemonic forces had not yet coalesced. Globalization is in fact making it more difficult for oil dependency to decrease. Individuals can only do so much. For instance solar panels are banned in many home communities due to being “ugly.”

More idiocy. Grass lawns are required by home owner associations in states that don’t have great fresh water supply. Water supplies are polluted and wasted on a massive scale daily. Oil and water will both become scarce, and personally I’d put my bets on water as the resource to watch. It is essential to basic survival, and while 3 or 4 days without food is uncomfortable, without water you’re dead.

  84. Sidewinder has started an interesting discussion I think a lot of people will be interested in following.

My 2c is that the reason it seems a family making 75k can’t get by is largely due to real estate. A mortgage (death grip) takes so much of your monthly income over the years and a lot of people take out the biggest one any idiot lender will give them. And with the oversized and overpriced house comes a whole lot of other oversized expenses to keep up apearances. In some countries (I’m not American) it is actually abnormal for average people to take out mortgages. They either save up and buy the house they want to live in or rent. Yes, incuding middle class people living in normal houses with all the services you are used to, not only people living in shacks. The over availability of mortgage finance just ramps up the price of houses helping no one but the banks.

As for what people can do practically. Apart from operating their own business maybe work as a consultant with a company like Accenture where you’re often travelling for work. That way you may be able to base yourself in a cheap part of the country and only drop by the home office for a couple of days between work at client sites.

  85. No need for gold. It has to be a commodity or basket of commodities at a fixed rate. Money has to be a store of value. It has to be WORTH something.

    in jail it is ciggies
    can be grain
    silver
    barrels of oil

gold is a good point of reference for historical reasons. it’s part of our culture.

further there *is* enough gold. the question is “what price will gold have to be, and at what ratio fixed”. one ounce would be sufficient for the world. we’d just have a gold standard of 1/10000000000 an ounce.

The Bizatine empire had gold at a fixed value for hundreds of years. The currency was very stable, and with it the society.

The destabilization of our culture can be traced back to the destabilization of our currency. Fads and folly don’t fly when you have to trade in $50 worth of gold (or oil, or wheat) for an Ed Hardy t-shirt. That nonsense is only pervasive in countries where the currency holds no value. Why not spend today what you will not have tomorrow?

  86. We forgot where we came from. Men still dress the part on their way to work, or at work in traditional jobs back in the ‘old country’. This is typical carpenter gear:

From bricklayer to sailer, most of industry and commerce has a known uniform and a role to play. Functional and traditional, it boadcasts what is expected from you and what you should receive in kind. And not just in commercial roles, this is quite typical outside of the SWPL infested city centers, young lasses playing their role, and looking damn feminine as they do it:

These are men playing their role in a social occasion:

Certainly not alpha’s, a society of higher beta’s whose individual contributions are honoured and recognized. Their reward is to live in a society where the majority recognizes the implied social contracts between both the classes and sexes, and the stability and level of civilization realized in such is real and long lasting. The countryside is in a ‘soft’ revolt against globalization. This is quite typical throughout rural Europe, the cities and the new bohemians that populate them are more than happy to open the floodgates of culturelessness, the barbarians outside the city gates clinging to their identities and the stability that goes with it. We have now become the former and lament the days of the latter. While both have their fringe benefits; the easy pussy prominent in soul crushing new bohemia, and their negatives; the social immobility present in the other, any fan of enlightened civiliasation realizes one will sustain and the other collapses in a heap of sodom and gommorah.

One instinctively knows that a large population of young ‘feral’ women is just as bad as a large population of young ‘feral’ men. How they domesticate both and bind them to implied social contracts is how a society wins or loses.

The other goes back to the ‘Veldt’. Plain and simple.

The problem is entitlement. Not specifically entitlement programs like Soc Sec, but the attitude of entitlement. Entitlement like “I have a pulse, so I deserve . . .”. Our forebears knew they had to work for something, that it won’t just come to you. Too many people today think that they have a right to a college degree, to a job, to an ‘A’, to a home, a car, an iPhone, etc.
While I’m glad that starvation is not a problem in the US, insulating people against the oldest fear has made us weak. You cannot have a sense of entitlement pervade a society and be strong. Every revolution among the poor was preceded by the nobility riding on a sense of entitlement. We get to see what happens when the poor have that sense of entitlement.

The Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, the first among equals in the Orthodox Church, used to be a man’s man, a leader along with the Emperor. He is weaker than a woman’s justification for cheating now. He eats, sleeps and drinks Turkish bigotry and does nothing about it.

He has found that a sloppy style of dress, anti-authoritarian sentiment, the triumph of low culture and incivility in children are strongly correlated with periods of inflation. Periods of stable prices are correlated with more conservative cultural outcomes.

Dream Puppy is right. If you have a 5$ gold piece vs a 5$ depreciating note, the incentive is to save the gold and spend the bill. It is designed as such. Our society is 70% consumption and 0-1% savings (removing the savings of the elite brings the savings rate negative). This is what the architects of the system want. If you spend all your money the likelihood of needing to borrow increases, which benefits the bankers who killed the American currency.

@Thirsty-Word. We are our money, and money is intimately tied to energy. Instead of the “gold standard,” we’re on a sort of quasi-oil-standard. The dollar is essentially backed by oil production/consumption. Hence the term “petrodollars.”

Gold, the “barbarian’s relic,” is a useful value holder, but gold can only go so far. In post-collapse economies, gold coins are often too valuable to trade for anything but big-ticket items.
Interesting factoid on gold: The price of an ounce of gold has been equivalent to the value of a good pistol (polymer frame pistols notwithstanding, I’m talking all metal, handbuilt pistols) since the mid-1800s, and is still true today. I’m not bagging on plastic pistols, I like them. I’m just sayin’…a good 1911 will fetch the same price as a Krugerand, the South African 1 troy oz. coin.

@Indeed–yep, we’ve arrived–or past Peak Everything: Peak Oil, Peak Water, Peak Rare Earths, Peak Soil, Peak Credit. But oil’s the biggie, since all these other commodities are extracted or used via internal combustion engines. Even water–how do you think those myriad miles of pipeline & canal are maintained?

@Sharpcool–that slow-mo decline you mentioned–that’s exactly what the collapse of the Western Roman empire looked like. Reaal slow. It took a couple hundred years. Same is true for the collapse of the Mayan empire, or virtually any other pre-industrial culture. But the difference is, we’re more vulnerable due to the intense complexity built into our high tech systems. Example: a strong electromagnetic pulse–from a nuclear attack, strong solar storms, even a small high-altitude nuclear detonation, would black out the grid, knocking out telecom, and with it, commerce. Chaos ensues.

So I agree with you that, barring any big Black Swan trigger events, the decline will be long and slow, like a lobster getting boiled in a pot. But–throw in the uncertainty of global political instability, climate change, etc, etc, and there’s an underlying probability of a trigger for swift, radical change.

I’ve seen people with 6-figure salaries living paycheck to paycheck and others with much smaller incomes building a very nice nest egg. 3 simple things. Put away your savings first so you don’t see it in your account, put a lot into a 401k, maybe into a college savings plan if relevant, for long-term funds, also put some after-tax money in a sharebuilder or other stock account for mid-term needs like a car, down payment, etc. Cut spending. $5 at Starbucks daily is $150 a month. Put $150 a month into a Sharebuilder account and you will be amazed at how much you have in 5 years. Saving money becomes fun because of the freedom it gives you.

Dickens said it perfectly through one of his characters. To paraphrase if you make $20 pounds a year and spend $19, result is happiness. If you make $20 and spend $21, the result is misery.

    @Paul,

A well-rounded strategy includes firearms, stores of food, and water, as well as renewable methods to produce or acquire each, as well as operational security protocols & training to conceal each. Firearms should be considered primarily defensive weapons to protect yourself & your family, and your stash. If you think you’re just gonna take what you need, someone with better training is gonna drop you in your tracks. A LOT of law enforcement, military and and Special Forces personnel, both active & retired, are out there, savvy to this situation and preparing, and can put rounds accurately downrange even in the heat of the moment.
So don’t think you’ll be able to loot & pillage your way to survival. Look at Katrina–New Orleans cops were dropping folks who just LOOKED like they were causing trouble. Yes, they were prosecuted after the rule of law was re-established–but.. that was after the rule of law was re-established, and.. that’s beside the point.

Argentina collapsed in the late 1990s through early 2000’s. Violence was more common, more kidnappings, etc, food & fuel was more scarce. There’s a lot of good info out there on what was going on there. Also–Bosnia, Serbia, Croatia in the mid-1990s, similarly. Ethiopia, pretty much continuously.

I recommend the books by James W. Rawles, a former Army Intel officer. His info’s tight. Got a great blog, too.

Gold as a standard is but the tool, it still takes discipline and motivation from the political-economy as a whole to make it work. That is you and me and everybody else voting with both ballot and wallet. Gold didn’t fail us, we failed gold, but they still hand them out as medals for first place at the real Olympics. 127. Off topic. Kind of. From a review of Eat Pray Love:

“Among Julia Roberts’ many talents is the ability to be likable even when she’s playing a character who isn’t. She’ll star in something dreadful like Runaway Bride or Mona Lisa Smile, and despite what a shrill stereotype the character is, Roberts herself will be infectiously pleasant.

This skill is taxed to its limits in Eat Pray Love, in which Roberts plays a privileged, self-absorbed narcissist who takes a year-long vacation to “find herself.” (You’re always in the last place you look, amirite?) This lady, Elizabeth Gilbert (also the name of the author from whose memoir the film was adapted), isn’t happy married, isn’t happy single, isn’t happy ever. She figures she needs to spend some time with no one but herself. Speaking as one who has spent 140 minutes with her, I would advise against that.

At the outset, she’s been married for several years to Stephen (Billy Crudup), a slightly goofy fellow who adores her. One night she reveals that she is not happy and wants a divorce. Stephen is stunned to hear this. Sharing his surprise: the audience. We knew Stephen was a little flighty with regard to choosing a career path, but that’s literally the only indication we’d been given that anything was awry. Whatever dissatisfaction had accumulated in Liz must have done so before we arrived.”

Using as a free market metric is very useful.

  137. Roissy is wholly off target, again. More evidence that the writers on this blog should stick to game.

The pictures are cherry-picked again. The former scenes of stalwart Americans can still be seen today. The current scenes of sloth and decay were as common as mud in the 1830’s-1890’s in every major city in the US, and were devastatingly normal in the UK. The complaints were numerous.

    Major attempts to change this:

The Social Hygiene movements (1880’s-1920’s; early Eugenics arose from it) and the Eugenics-Social Darwinism movements in administration (1910’s-1930’s) were *liberal* attempts to stem this problem. They wanted to use selective breeding, social separation, wholesale reforms in education and excellence-selection (using schools to identify those who could be “lifted up” from their destructive environments) and breeding-discouragement (i.e., no social welfare, sterilization in exchange for support).

As far as they were criticized (legitimately), had these movements been more popular and their agendas implemented more thoroughly, this might have been avoided. Instead, these reasonably obvious eugenic solutions were made oppressive and disgusting by the Nazis.

We forget that it originated as a gentle, liberal way to solve society’s problems without infringing on the rights of individuals by creating incentives for people to live within their means and to breed out criminals and criminal behavior.

Note that the idea that that much violent criminal behavior is likely at least partly hereditary is now common currency among HBDers and evolutionary biologists. People then had a natural understanding that this was obvious.

I’d note that the US “prole” white population is particularly wretched, compared to white proles elsewhere.

This is why I find it sickeningly laughable that white supremacists target the black populations here. The prole-white populations are as- if not more- disgusting and useless and retarded. White supremacists are often the same white-prole types that drag this country down. The single fact of their whiteness doesn’t redeem them. They suck off the drying teat of the state as greedily as anyone, moreso in fact, and because they’re white, they see themselves as entitled to it. Disgusting and revolting. As useless and trashy as any urban ghetto dweller.

Seriously, reforming this population of American white trash seems impossible. That said, the worst periods for crime in NYC and Boston were not today: they were the 1830’s-1845 (immigration), the 1870’s (post-war), the 1930’s (post&pre-war, the last generation of open immigration from Europe, ending in 1922, had grown up by then) and the 1970’s, with the 1970’s being the least crime-filled of the four. Demographics seem to be the operating force here.

Boston and NYC were cesspools. NYC is, today, a paragon of civilization by comparison to almost any prior period.

The social hygienists, in the UK and US especially, were worried about incest, the zillions of babies being born to indigent people who barely spoke English, the swarthy and crime-prone Southern Europeans, the lack of husbands in the trash immigrant (Southern European) / Catholic / Irish communities, the petty crime and prostitution among the rat-like Jews of NYC, etc., …
And the black populations got nary a whisper, by and large. They were Other – Not really American (ignore and maybe they’ll go away).

So the decay has *always* been here.

    The difference? Roissy

The proles are FAT and LOOK disgusting —

AND THE GOVERNMENT GIVES THEM MONEY.

    What the hell is that?

It inculcates a “I’m Owed” attitude among people who should be working their asses off and helps to disincentivize them from making hard decisions.

  139. The best thing in a bad situation is to have lots of family and friends you can really trust. This is also why men have traditionally wanted sons, so they can teach them how to fight, wield a knife and shoot a gun. It’s also why among men, honor and loyalty are such venerated traits. Women revert to being weak in such situations, although if they are somewhat capable they can also use a gun in a pinch and help out with some logistics like firewood and gathering.

The wussification of men has meant that most men nowadays can’t and won’t survive without relying on essentially strangers, much like women. It’s why men with a lot of good friends, a big family of lots of brothers, and ability to call on their social capital are more able to command a lot more female attention. Deep down women know that such men have social power that transfers to real power. Money won’t buy jack squat if money becomes worthless — which it has before and will again.

    @ dana,
Everybody debates Euro vs.

I’ve said this before. Europeans are more educated, more skilled and more entitled; but the education seems to make a huge difference.

Canadians seem to be about the same level of education. They also seem ore peaceful, harder-working, and more generally professional. This is from personal contact, not scientific observation. The retardedness of many Americans in professional life seems to be absent there.

    I have no idea why.

I do think there’s one difference:

For 50 years, they seem to have picked their immigrants from the best the world had to offer. And there’s a lot more immigrants there than here: 1/6 of every Canadian wasn’t born there. 1/16 of Americans weren’t born here.

Their prole population also seems better fed (and not as fat), better educated and much more polite.

The big 3 all report their production as more profitable and more efficient in Canada. The government co-ordinates things better for industries.

Their financial system is the most rock-solid on the planet.

Really, they have huge problems, and I wouldn’t want to emulate the problems.

    But they’re doing something right.

The immigration system they have is step one. It amounts to de-facto Eugenics. I predict that this will have a widespread genetic effect over generations. The opposite will happen in the US.

The education they seem able to maintain is step two.

Step three is decent government. No adventurism. Competent management.

Seriously, it’s like Alternate America. They’re ethnically similar, in almost every way, except the ways that count.

We should study it. We’re so stuck up, America Is The Best, we refuse to learn from other peoples’ mistakes or successes.

Just do a lot of praying father. We all know that god stops men from killing you if you pray and cower in fear.

I mean look at bosnia action I am pretty sure they were praying but the houses all looked like swiss cheese but the one with the most holes. It was actually amazing. I never could of pictured that in a movie or a dream just house after house after house after house on the busride out of bosnia just fucking holes from top to bottom. And there houses ain’t just aluminum siding and a little wood. A 9 mm can go through most houses. So if you want a safer house might want to go with brick or stone.

Even though the bosnian house walls looked like some kind of concrete white clay or some shit.

Just steel yourself about caring whether you live or die and then it don’t matter and also men will fear you and you won’t fear anything. Live your life have a good time.

Just make sure you have a well doug that is electronic but also one with a bucket he he he.

@Longfellow: there’s no one “right gun,” because everyone’s different, although a pump action shotgun probably is most versatile and dependable. Semiautos can jam, pumps, much less so. Shotguns in general are very adaptable: with them you can hunt birds & small game with birdshot, and large game (including two leggeds) with buckshot or slugs. Again, I’d defer to Rawles, he’s got a great page on ‘survival guns.’ As Chi-town says, the AK is good. I personally prefer the HK91 family, including clones. It’s got more cojones and is more reliable.

@ J R, that’s the typical dismissive attitude, it’s essentially a strawman. Go check out the oildrum.com, energybulletin.net, postcarbon.org, and so many others. The shit’s real, and it’s happening. First stage is always denial.

@Indeed & Chi-town, gold’s been tampered with. Lots of ‘paper gold,’ or gold certificates that ain’t worth the paper they’re printed on, have been bought & sold. It’s artificially affecting the price. James Kunstler has written a bit on this. He’s got some great books out on the topic of energy-mediated collapse, including ‘Long Emergency.’ Highly recommended.

Indeed, your last comments on family, etc–true gold.

  148. There’s also nothing fanatical about basic preparation, safety and self-defense. People used to do it all the time, and in some places they still do. Houses would have storage for that very purpose. Families saved for a rainy day. Practiced fire safety, had emergency plans, contacts, relatives who could help out, names, addresses, wills, and so on. Sober and smart planning for the future, not head burying in the sand praying for god or the police or rescue workers to come.

It all depends on the person’s attitude, personality and intelligence level. You ever meet an ex-vet with tons of rifles, guns and bullets, but who is extremely safe with them? He’d never play around or point it at a person. Always checks the chambers himself to make sure whether it’s loaded. No joking around, just treats the guns as tools, with respect, and never talks about what he’d do in the event of a break-in or any kind of societal collapse. But he’d do what’s needed.

The women wouldn’t be totally worthless either. They’d maintain and organize supplies, first aid kits, food, medicines, blankets, candles, flashlights, batteries, and so on while the men handled their toolboxes and weapons. They would calm the kids, contact relatives, cook, clean, feed, sew, knit, and clothe the family. They would noil the water, stoke the stove, gut the chicken, and get their hands dirty. How many men and women could do half of that these days? This was once upon a time the lower working and middle classes. Not anymore. Now it’s all about specialization, segregation, divisions, and being a replaceable cog in the system. It doesn’t take much to learn just the surface levels, but learning is hard.

The fact that families are drastically restricting the number of kids they have, primarily so they can afford to spend $200k to send their kids to one of these diploma mills (and they’re all basically diploma mills nowadays, none of them really teach anything worthwhile) is an abject disaster. The universities are arrogant. They know the current system is a shell game where the citizens “have” to get a degree to supposedly get anywhere in life. The universities win; corporations win; it’s the consumer (the students and their parents) who are losing badly in this system.

There needs to be a revolution, with a new type of university. My preference is one that allows someone to spend maybe half of their 4 years of undergrad working. That way, they will graduate debt-free and with some actual life experience instead of just liberal mush in their head. The working periods could be monitored and graded by the university, integrated as a full part of the undergraduate program.

    @Father,

About NYC–Gun’s moving advice is probably sound. Have you heard what Gerald Celente, the famed trends forecaster has had to say about NYC?
He says that, in time, it will become like Calcutta–lots and lots of very poor people, lots of prostitution, gangs, drugs, muggings, kidnappings, etc. Actually this forecast is likely in the densest cities throughout the country. The US standard of living, across the board, will look more like the countries that grow our coffee, with the requisite social problems, etc.
Celente, BTW, predicted the rise of gourmet coffee, social networking, SWPL natural foods, and so many other trends, decades before anyone else did, and long before they arrived. He’s got a solid track record.

    @J R,

“if that is the case then all of us will be at the mercy of gangs if society collapses. there’s not much you and a half-dozen brothers/cousins/friends can do when the crips/MS-13/nazi low riders come looking for your water, your gold and your women. i suppose there’s a case to be made that the stronger you are the more likely that the predators will find easy prey, but sooner or later they’re going to run out of easy marks.”

That’s an extreme scenario. It could happen in a few urban areas, but by and large, the gangs are not organized enough. That’s not to say they wouldn’t organize right quick if/when SHTF.
Again, risk is concentrated in the urban areas of dense population.

IMHO, the best places to be are smaller towns & cities with nearby agricultural resources, and also those that exhibit strong cultural & social cohesiveness. Not unsurprisingly, these are the places where female hypergamy AND male polygyny are most well-controlled by cultural forces. There is no anonymity as in big-cities to hide behind. Infidelity in small towns is punished through social isolation and the forces of gossip. People are far less likely to do shit that will get them talked about poorly; it inhibits one’s business and social life to be outcast because of the virtual scarlet A.

The Hell’s Angels and Sons of Silence motorcycle gangs are an interesting contrary example of the urban safety vacuum; the HA’s travel around small backwater towns in middle America, and the first thing they do is test the local constabulary, to see how much give they’ll permit, how much the police will bend. The HA’s will run stoplights, ride their motorcycles on the sidewalks, etc, to see how the cops will respond. If the cops don’t confront, the HA’s will escalate their bad behavior.

In my neck of the woods, the HA’s came in for a weekend rally & tested the local Sheriff’s department, which promptly deployed full SWAT response, replete with rocking M16s, aimed and ready, on traffic stops. No fucking around; there were probably even some civil rights violations by the Sheriff’s. And of course, the HA’s visit went smoothly–they realized that they couldn’t push bounds, and they behaved themselves.

In essence, the HAs were shit-testing the Sheriffs. Game theory can be generalized to groups of people–tribes, gangs, countries, businesses, you name it. Social dominance theories scale well, I believe. Sun Tzu generalized these theories in The Art of War, and they’re found elsewhere in the historical cannon. There’s a reason that Robert Greene has written on both seduction as well as power and warfare. They are branches of the same tree.

In the words of Jim Morrison: “I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I’m gonna get my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames.”

But I’ll do so while preparing for decline and possible Black Swans.

    Cheers, Y’all!

Agreed. We should adopt Canada’s immigration policy.

We have that kind of immigration as well, and it’s generally beneficial. Lots of our E Asian and S. Asian immigration is, or was, of that kind. As well those attracted to our leading universities that then stay.

The trouble is we then also have our “family reunification” immigration that lets in brothers and sisters and so on, and parents and grandparents and from there cousins. This makes up the majority of our immigration quotas. The brothers and sisters and cousins aren’t necessarily highly skilled or smart. We also let in far too many damn refugees, with no smarts requirements.

Then of course there’s the deluge of illegal immigrants, about 20 million in the US now, from the poorest and most Amerindian strata of Mexico and Central America. NAMs for sure, unto the third and fourth generation. The vast majority of Americans want this stopped but the media and our political elites lie endless about ineffective measures they’ve undertaken or plan to do in “immigration reform”. Which means amnesty. Because it’s “impossible” to deport the illegals. Bull cr*p it is.

You are completely abusing the concept of a gold standard. I was clearly speaking of the two times in this country where gold backed the currency. It was a disaster. It caused a depression due to hoarding. There isn’t only one thing that can go wrong with a currency. Gold functions now as a 3rd rail and I like it much better there. Using as a free market metric is very useful.

    ———————————————–

You are not only revising history but you are a Keynesian sympathiser as well. No quarter from this lad. The depression happened because of the monetary imbalances between Europe and US, perpetrated by both the Fed Reserve and the Bank of England. Exchequer Norman and the Fed’s Strong colluded to interest rate policies that were far too loose in US and far too tight in England. Gold did not fail, central bank interest rate policy from early 20’s to early 30’s did. Gold hoarding is merely the free market’s way of saying shits still too expensive. The resulting depression is nature’s way of weeding out the undisciplined, ineffective, fraud and inefficiency. Instead we got 70 years of uninterrupted Keynesian welfare, and what do we get? We are fatter, dumber, unmotivated, self-entitled and headed for the cliff like in no time in history.

Currency debasement goes hand in hand with empire collapse. There has never been a case in history where the inverse was reality. You stick to your confetti and I’ll stack metal. We’ll compare notes in a couple years….

All working Americans pay a fortune in taxes to the welfare state. What do you think FICA is? I hope for your own sake that you don’t think Medicare or Social Security will be there for you when you retire. So, right there you lose 15% of your income. The 15% people traditionally saved on their own.

You then create a massive dependent underclass through welfare for single moms and public education. The underclass than moves into centrally located neighborhoods, outvotes the people actually work, and drives them into the suburbs, forcing their cost of living up.

Finally, and more subtly, it crowds out necessary government services like police, fire, roads, sanitation, sewers, and other big infrastructure projects. It also creates the mentality among SWPL females that they can make themselves wealthy by purchasing houses, and then voting to prohibit new construction of housing and transportation infrastructure so that they can over charge for their homes that surround major areas of work.

Common round, good stopping power for things two and four legged, solid furniture-superior to just about anything when it comes to buttstroking heathens in the trenches. A decent collectible as well, if armageddon never comes it should only appreciate in value, especially the old Springfields that sniffed out WWII/Korea.

Agreed. We should adopt Canada’s immigration policy.

We don’t need to copy it.

I’d be happy to shut up the left by offering agricultural work visas without the option to become a permanent resident to Mexicans who want to work in menial jobs. This is one step in the right direction, and cuts it down the middle.

It might be sold to the left, or the middle. You could label it a progressive step. The Mexicans could work. If they ever qualified to be immigrants, they could apply like anyone else; but they could also be encouraged to go home and come back to work in another season. They’d otherwise have no hope of getting citizenship – ever.

See: By letting in people on temporary visas, you start to control them. Instead of a flood that you can’t do anything about without a reaction, you now have a fair, impartial system that they have to adhere to; you can then get the ones who follow the legal system to get resentful of the line-jumpers, and they’ll be your allies.

I tell you: We need to make Mexico an ally in keeping out illegal immigrants. And make the immigrants, … temporary workers, who are obliged to leave. They never vote, never use the social services, are happy with their cash, go home, spend it, make their own country richer, buy our products, help improve mutual relations.

Now we have the worst of all worlds.

We can be smart about it by instituting what seem to be “fair” systems, that serve everyone, especially our own demographics. Imagine: A legal way to get a cheap worker. With that in place, you can really harass employers who break the law.

Same would apply generally to anyone from any country.

I can’t believe Canada could install a system like that that people support, but we can’t even discuss the topic of immigration openly.

We have that kind of immigration as well, and it’s generally beneficial. Lots of our E Asian and S. Asian immigration is, or was, of that kind. As well those attracted to our leading universities that then stay.

We could use lots more of that, if we’re going to have it at all.

We’re going to end up with a foreign-ish educated, smart, ruling class and a lot of really stupid white and black people – but we have the really stupid white and black people anyway.

You need to counter the racism charges of the left with a coherent response: Create a *legal* framework for them to seem to get what they want. And protect the country at the same time.

    It’s sneaky and would work.

Canadians seem to be about the same level of education.

As Steve Sailer noted, the number one cause of good schools is . . . good students. [Canada is ] Mostly white, with a lot of Chinese and high caste Indian immigrants.

Our now 30% NAM (Non Asian minorities, aka affirmative action minorities) population hurts our primary and secondary educational performance greatly in multiple ways. For those whites unfortunate enough to attend a heavily NAM school, discipline is generally a real problem. Tracking is often not done because it would make NAMs look bad statistically and is said to hold them back or a kind of in school “segregation”. So teaching suffers horribly. As well teachers get burned out and most good ones try to transfer to better schools or go to them in the first place.

Additionally though, our more than 30% NAM student population is all our damn educational establishment and reformers ever think about- raising their test scores. “No child left behind.” Whatever Obama’s initiative is called. Etc. Tracking the bright students together is heavily derrided and frowned upon if there are any NAMs around at all, and just as a general policy matter (mostly because of NAMs). Our schools of education about never worry about making high school curriculums more rigorous and challenging for the better and middle ranking students, who are mostly white, no it’s only bring up the NAMs.

Well some of the best suburban schools do have this focus which is a lot of why parents are so desperate to move to expensive suburbs. NYC has this focus in magnet schools for it’s very most gifted children, though now there’s even moves underway to bring affirmative action to Hunter etc. The students who really get hosed with all this NAM focus are middle level ones, mostly white.

Schooling for the bottom 25% in IQ doesn’t matter that much as long as they can read and write and do arithmetic. That mostly requires school order and discipline which is often sadly lacking in ghetto schools. And better schooling won’t make them durably brighter. It is what it is.

There was none of the American Black animosity, none of the rudeness, and the “black” areas (no idea what they were called) were clean, it’s true. Well-kept. Actually, I saw no slums (American slums) in Canada. I read the stats. The levels of crime in Toronto were fractions of the same violent crimes in the US. Fractions – like 10% or less.

No broken windows, no police as armed foreign army of occupation. Everyone spoke English. I heard rap music, but just as often Calypso or Caribbean music.

I was only there for a short time, but there was nothing anywhere like the social holocaust in the US.

Canada’s points system for allowing in immigrants is roughly an IQ screen. That doesn’t apply to the refugees she lets in I don’t think, but they’re not that large in number. Accordingly Canada’s blacks are I’d be willing to wager smarter than America’s. Anyone know of any studies which break this out?

America’s blacks got much worse in their behavior after our media in the 60s began telling them their lagging performance in American schools and in incomes was entirely due to white racism and not their fault, and that they were “owed”. The basic civil rights laws were needed but this drumbeat has really been excessive since. It’s basically to bolster the leftist claim that lagging black performance is entirely due to continuing white racism, and no differences in either black culture or innate intelligence or aggressiveness, etc.

I know you all get our media in Canada but there’s probably also a story there that white Canadians aren’t nearly as racist as white Americans so “don’t blame us, look to yourselves”.

We have an overly generous refugee policy that somewhat undermines the points system.

    Why cant that be fixed?

We also let in too many immigrants anyway. There should be more time to assimilate the immigrants we have now. IQ isn’t everything.

How many does Canada take in?

According to the 2006 stats immigration from Jamaica and Trinidad has slowed and there are no African nations significant enough for separate notice.

So Africans don’t make the points cut.

    Interesting.

Not a racist system. So immune from criticism from the Left. Asians still get in, as well as Europeans. On the basis of smarts.

Yet, … no Africans, except a few smarter ones (I’ll bet those are Indians in Africa and white ex-Africans)

Seems to me that this gets by the Liberal Hate radar and accomplishes the job nicely, anyway.

Muslim immigration comes mainly from Pakistan. We’ve started letting in more people from Iran, but in my experience the Iranians who immigrate are not religious.

I’m sorry, but no-one is going to convince me that Muslim immigration is anything but poison. Long-term, it’s bad news. Nothing to do with race.

The only Arab nation that we let in a significant number of immigrants from is Lebanon and a lot of those are Catholics. There may be a lot of Sikhs in BC, but not elsewhere.

What about Koreans? I heard there were lots there (when I as in Korea, ironically). All the Ajummas had grandchildren, nieces or nephews in Vancouver and Toronto.

Someone also told me that the prevailing attitude up there is that our high elites are impressive (educational institutions, big finance – of course, both arrogant to the point of self-destruction), but these elites are often also foreign (imported profs, financial leaders). But the middle-classes in Canada are more proficient at everything, law-abiding and productive.

If it’s not the system (our democratic system here is excellent, … on the face of it), it has to be the people. So what: Did the cold act like a barrier?

Charging someone with being “racist”, “sexist” or “anti-Semitic” is the cornerstone of the left’s ability to stifle non PC thought or at least public expression in the country, and a cornerstone of a lot of the left’s power. The terms are now applied to anything which isn’t leftist approved thought in those areas of subject matter.

The left has progressively changed the definition of what’s required to be a racist from 1) then in the sixties a race hating bigot, who hates or disdains all members of a race or almost all, and pre-judges (prejudice) each individual member of that race by the actions or abilities of the worst or the average even when abundant evidence of the individual’s own particular characteristics are available, feeling inherently in some key way superior to all members of that racial or ethnic group, to 2) now someone who suggests any non trivial racial or ethnic differences that might significantly effect in and of the themselves, rather than only through white prejudice, that groups’ average or overall success rate.

So now you get pulled into being a racist by 2) the new very broad definition, and then demonized by applying 1) the older, far narrower, hateful and ugly one, without any evidence in what you’ve said for the later.

There are people of that intellectual heft today, but few of them are in government. They are or were in business (Kurzweil, Gates, Allen, e.g.) or in open source software (Raymond) or in academia or research (Yudkowski.)

Is it that important that we have geniuses in federal government? I don’t think so. Firstly, we are a mature democracy. One needs reasonably patriotic people who will do what’s best for the common good in alignment with the values of most citizens. Secondly, the geniuses are working in the background as is, in technological fields to make breakthroughs that will shape the future in ways that government policy alone can’t. What I see Kurzweil doing, e.g. (with the Singularity Institute) will probably steer modernity for centuries to come. In 10-15 years his people will be influential figures in science, business and academia.

While people did dress better fifty years ago, it’s worth remembering that in a movie, even the extras are hand-picked for their looks. Even in movies today, it’s rare to find obese, sloppy-looking people in the background, and that’s because a casting agency picks extras who have the right look for the film. If a film made today were set at a Wal-Mart in Kentucky, the extras would still be thinner, better dressed, and better-looking than what you would find at a real Wal-Mart in Kentucky. Pretty much the only time obese people play extras in a film or TV show is when the script requires them to be there.

    *yawn*

Black, White, Asian, Jew, blah, blah, blah. There is no pure race anymore. It’s all getting intermixed, and the gene pool is better because of it.

This whole race conflict canard is tired, deadly boring, and while relevant in a few inner city confines, is largely a distraction to the larger class war taking place.

And there is a very well-defined, thoughtful, intelligently planned class war taking place.

The poor are not winning, and neither is the middle class. In fact, we’re getting our ass handed to us. I saw we, because I’m near on sure that there’s no one on this board who has a net worth greater than 9 figures, and there may be 1 or two with a net greater than 7 figures, if that.

And as such, all of us here, male & female, and whiteblackcablinasianjewarabsamoanwhatever, we are united far more by our class than by racial or ethnic considerations (with a few exceptions).

Never has the divide between rich and poor been greater in this country. It’s gone past ridiculous–CEO salaries, massive golden parachutes, hostile takeovers followed by retirement account plundering, the gutting of Glass-Steagall, the trillions–TRILLIONS in derivatives, made-up securities.. I could go on and on and on, for pages.

I’m not against capital per se, only against the abusive power wielded by big capital, and its massive expansion into every sector of our lives. They control the food we eat, everything on TV and coming out of Hollywood, and they’re doing their damndest to get control of the internet. And it’s all controlled by the financial sector, the big investment banks.

Financial services were a stable 10-11% of our economy, until Glass-Steagal got blown up, then it expanded to nearly a third–31+% of our economy As someone on this board already mentioned–where’s the value created by that army of accountants & lawyers? Miniscule to none. They suck value. As Taibbi said about Goldman Sachs (paging GBFM), it’s a giant vampire squid, jamming its blood funnel into anything resembling money.

And all the politicians in Washington have much more blood in common with the megawealthy elite (read: Wall Street) than with anyone else with their same skin color. Skin color’s irrelevant when their blood runs the color of money. The Golden Rule is the rule of law here.. the motherfuckers with the gold make the rules.. and that’s all. The rest is culture wars designed to be distractionary to the real issue, which is big business, wearing the glove of big government (and vice versa) giving you all a reaal thorough proctology exam… with no vaseline.

We’d all do much better to aim all the invective and vitriol towards Washington & Wall Street and their bedroom corrolaries, the Hamptons, Martha’s Vineyard, Aspen, etc, rather than at each other.

  225. While people did dress better fifty years ago, it’s worth remembering that in a movie, even the extras are hand-picked for their looks. Even in movies today, it’s rare to find obese, sloppy-looking people in the background, and that’s because a casting agency picks extras who have the right look for the film.

While this is true, one can look at photos and documentary films from that era and see that the essential point here remains the same.

We’ve never been fatter as a nation than we are today.

  226. Great contrast of photos. It is an objective fact that Americans are much more obese now than at any other time in history. These photos humorously depict that. Also, they show well the lack of dignity in personal appearance. Why do people dress this way now in public? Who knows.

The past is not ideal, but I think there was a better sense of public dignity and decency than there is today. These photos add a bit to prove that.

A nation of narcissistic, epic consumption cannot last too long. Things need to change.

If someone has figured out how to negotiate this landscape, please let me know.

An individual can do it, but there is no secure formula, and it doesn’t scale up to what an entire economy can do.

An individual can learn to live on next to nothing. Share house rental, purchase a trailer and park it in a farmers plot close to your city, move overseas, cook your own food, etc. While keeping your expenses low, do entrepreneurial activities. Focus on the ones that work, all the while trying new ventures. Re-invest your funds in stable low risk businesses, while growing the prominent businesses, and investing in newer, higher risk businesses.

Make sure that if all fails, you can simply pare back your expenses to an extreme bare minimum.

Continue in that fashion, year after year, until as is bound to happen, one of your ventures will take off and you’ll find yourself living with more income than most.

It might take you five, ten, or twenty years. Even if you suck at being an entrepreneur, if you keep at it like this, eventually you’ll stumble upon success.

And then keep re-investing your funds into lower risk new startup ventures.

the only solution is the dissolution of the Welfare State in its entirety.

everything we value arose in response to the harshness of reality. death, disease and poverty lurking around every corner. family is the ultimate safety net

by ameliorating the consequences of reality with the welfare state we inevitably destroyed the need for family–but the values that created family created civilization and with the family, so goes civilization out the door.

A personal trade can be marketed through a shop or door to door or through newspaper ads or freelanced out to companies. Sales and marketing skills can be applied in any economy, for any product. Manufacture of niche products is still possible – big corporations don’t bother with items that aren’t mass produced. An existing product can be tweaked. Many products are still hugely overpriced, and there is plenty of room in the market to compete if you do your own manufacture. Some markets still have too many middle men and a history of being overpriced. Artists can build on branding their name and print their own money. Globally there are still massive opportunities for income/export.

And don’t be over-whelmed by industries that require a large group of highly skilled professionals – a corporation. People can be hired, investments can be found. Startups happen. Find a seed of a startup, prove some success in marketing a few prototypes or reverse engineered knock offs, approach university students or grads with an interest in working for scratch plus stock.

Corporations can’t do what individuals can. They will never be flexible enough.

Mainstreaming suicide is bad because the wrong people might get the idea that it’s acceptable to off themselves.

Society needs worker drones to maintain a tax base. It’s better for society if they pop SSRIs or lithium or whatever the magic pill du jour happens to be and do they duty.
(In a decade we’ll probably be able to reprogram depression and mani-depressive genes anyway.)
Most mooching, worthless idiots aren’t inclined to commit suicide.

You also have a funny interpretation of Hitler’s policy. He wasn’t some benevolent Jack Kevorkian. He didn’t ask if you wanted to be there or not. He decided. And that’s another problem with mainstreaming suicide.

The basic formula for historic progression of liberal ideas is “whatever is permitted today is mandatory in a generation.” That’s a reason to oppose all liberal innovations on principle. They take an inch to get a mile. It’s all a foot in the door.

Guys it is actually extremely easy to screen a woman for this type of “joke” all you have to do is look at their bank account. So lets say they are over thirty and have only saved nothing. Guys are using wrong criteria on woman. Looking at there education and job and lifestyle and house. Look at what they actually have in equity in house then in bank then in liquid assets. If they have nothing really. Then ding ding ding. You have just found a woman who is looking for a man to enslave.

Just because they have a job making a 100k doesn’t mean that they will be having that job after getting with you. Also if they as a single woman have spent all the money from that 100k job as a single woman and you make a 100k and have spent all your money as a single man. Then you should be able to do some math there and realize that if you got together with her and she stopped making a 100k there are going to be some money problems.

Again don’t look at what someone says but look at reality.
The reality is if she ain’t got shit by 30 she probably ain’t ever going to have shit and marrying you will suck your ass dry.

Above you’re complaining about what I take to be Section 8.

That’s liberalism. From “you can’t discriminate on the basis of race (which is fine on the face of it)” to “you gotta have people of other race in your neighborhood, whether they can afford to pay rent or not (we’ll subsidize them if they can’t)”

Perfect example of progressive social engineering.

Removing the welfare state is indeed insufficient.

Removing the welfare AND regulatory/social engineering state though IS sufficient.

But removing the welfare state will strip them of the votes, and the rest will follow.

You know when I know we’ll have succeeded in taking this country back? When liberals start agitating that we relinquish our sovereignty and comply with all transnationalist edicts. I say that happens in roughly 12-15 years.

i should not use the Welfare State, its not sufficiently descriptive–i should say the giant, all encompassing totalitarian, social engineering bureaucracy–but that’s kinda long. none of the problem of “feminism” come from the actual concessions feminism gained for women socially–they come from the GOVERNMENT insulating women fromt he consequences of their choices by fiat.

the pill and women working still wouldnt have effected as much without the massive safety nets, affirmative action and make work provided by the GOVERNMENT. without all of theses things AND the government inventing and enforcing rules that twisted the workplace in women’s favor, women’s entre into work and civic life would have had very little disruptive effect.

without the government regime of child support laws, redistributive divorce settlement policies women having sexual liberation and out of wedlock babies wouldnt be as big a problem.

what we would have ended up with is the furry armed lawyer chicks being able to be the childless career women they would have always wanted to be with less friction while the mass of women were still left leading more or less traditional lives–the massive return to “stay at home mom” shows this–the whole movement was served only to push through the few women who probably could have made it on their own but with a little more friction–and it’s left the wreckage of the courts, family , schools and workplace in its wake

In America, the Tea Party movement is an emerging rebellion against the American ruling class (both Democrat and Republican). In Europe, the beginnings of rebellion against their ruling class is stirring. We shall see if it’s in time.

The purpose of importing millions of low-skill, unintelligent people is to create a permanent majority voting bloc in favor of socialism, which will keep the ruling class permanently in power.

We have had up to 7 kids and lived a good life on just under 80,000. I have a friend with 4 that lives on $60,000. Now, we live in Tx, so things are a bit cheaper here than in some places, but here’s what we do.

I cook from scratch, a LOT. Meat and veggies are cheaper than prepackaged. I have a meat loving hubby, we have meat at every meal. Cheaper cuts and marination or long cooking times make for a yummy cheap meal.

Most clothing comes from thrift stores or clearance racks. I don’t pay more than $5 for jeans, 2 for shorts. I limit the amount of clothes we own. It keeps our drawer neat and our laundry demands low. Underwear and shoes are the only ‘new’ things.

We do not sign our kids up for a lot of extra curricular stuff. If they want to play soccer, we go outside and play soccer. We did spring for a hoop for b-ball. You’d be amazed how fast you get a pick up game of football if an adult is the quarterback. You want art lessons, lets get some books from the library, go to free night at the art museums, draw, draw, draw. Think outside the box, is there a cheaper or free way to get the same or similar experience?

Birthday gifts are limited to $50 or less, parties at home with actual restaurant pizza (if you don’t eat out very often, it’s a treat!). Christmas gifts are things we can play with together. Lest you think my kids deprived, they own a wii and more games than we can play, 2 tvs, a million Legos, board games coming out our ears, a trampoline, bikes for everyone, and memberships to 2 local museums and one zoo.

We live on a cash system. I withdraw an amount that allows for contribution to savings from the bank at the beginning of the week, separate it out in categories. When money is gone in a category, you wait. If I use all our eating out money on Monday, we have homemade pizza on Friday. Seeing the cash makes me think when I am purchasing something and make it easy to explain to the kids why a purchase cannon be made.

Vacation is what we can do with cash I have saved from our weekly budget. That means we drive a lot, stay in cheaper motels(I refuse to camp but you could do that cheaper), do a lot of hiking and visiting state parks, and have strict budget for food.

Bottom line is, if you are committed, it can be done. It’s work, but I get to stay at home with my babies. I save us way more than I could earn. My kids are healthy and happy. They rarely fight with each other and are thankful, as opposed to the whiny I-want-this little creatures I see at Wal-mart. I really like my family and my life, how many others can say that?

If I told you I’ld have to kill you to prevent my idea from being stolen. More seriously, the modern entrepenuer has to to do one of a few things to start successfully: have a premade niche market, be in the first wave of a cutting edge new technology, a new but unknown technology, or be highly specialized in something that corporations can’t easily specialize in.

In the case of my business, it has a niche market and is part of the first wave of a new techology, that is relatively unknown still. The trick is leveraging those advantages into stability before other people move in on the turf with the same technology. Then of course you aggressively expand, expand, expand.

Its possible for smaller privately owned businesses to operate and exist, because corporations aren’t good at everything. Nor are they able to compete as easily in a localized context, particularly if you have well organized local business owners. There is a degree to which its easier and cheaper for corporations to contract out, and as long as that is the case, the private business will always have a place. Particularly considering specialization is most profitable.

First, the photos of the past were professional portraits where the subjects were posed in the way the photographer wanted them. They were not candid as the 2nd set were.

Second, the “family portrait” showing a “noble” family has a young man to the right of the father – in a dress.

Last, if the people of the past had access to what the people of today have access to, the pictures of the past would be very different.

Men are the civilizing force in any society. Unfortunately, it is not in human nature to plan for what is to come and act proactively on it as a group. Our brains are neither designed for it, nor did we evolve to do so. And men in the USA are not standing up for what is their right to being builders of advanced societies.

This is why it will take either:

    1) Complete and utter collapse of society, or
    2) A revolution, or
    3) Both

These pieces of trash are here to stay, and will not be breeding themselves out of existence.

As for the rest of us, it might take a generation or two to die out before things get set on the right track. We are too far gone as a collective group.

Those “Amuricans” can and used to be better human beings. They have been driven to this level of depravity over the past two generations by social policies enacted by refugee-loving, tradition-hating liberals such as yourself.

-The welfare state destroyed their work ethic and allowed the worst of them to breed at greater numbers than before.

-The removal of Christian morals and manners from the public sphere has led to the spread of single-motherhood, thuggish behaviour, obesity, and elderly people wearing obscene t-shirts in public.

If we stopped paying these people to do nothing and if schools and the media told them in no uncertain terms that they were worthless trash for behaving in such a manner, then the vast majority would improve their behaviour.

As far as the financial crash goes (Keep in mind that I am not a financial expert), I don’t think it’s going to happen anytime soon. The elite know that people figure it will crash soon because they watch the internet, so they will wait and wait and wait to crash it. I hear that the stock market/trading, etc. is run by computer, they can do whatever they want. I also don’t think that we will go all “Road Warrior” either, they will introduce the new world currency right after the crash because people will beg for it, either that or the FEMA camps.

Think about it, 9/11 happened in 2001 and the Patriot Act was passed. How long were we told about the US being in a state of terror? Eight years. Then in 2009, there were multiple attacks on the US. When the “Underwear Bomber” came along, naked body scanners in the airports. It’s a game of psychological warfare. All you can do now is prepare and keep your eyes open.

Where you live in the country makes a huge difference. One of the big reasons my wife and I moved to Dallas was because the combination of a good economic base and low housing costs. For $150k you could buy a nice 4 bedroom home in a nice neighborhood here, maybe 30 minutes from downtown Dallas (during off hrs) and closer to the telecom/tech corridor. I’m not saying move to Dallas, but to look at different cities. You could easily live on less than $75K and own your own home in a nice neighborhood fairly close to work in many parts of the country.

    But umm yea
I did kind of see the perfect excuse to leave as in not hurting my woman emotionally and being able to leave her in a good position for her future. I mean I don’t have any money in my name nor really anything.
So I am laying there and I got freaking water rolling out my eyes and shit about three fucking times yeterday and shit.
But yea finally convinced myself a reason it might be ok to go. Personnal sacrifice of myself to insure I don’t emotionally hurt my woman who I love.
I think I could justify that to god if I had to.
But then I get to hear from her that all the other pain would be nothing compared to not having me in her life. She would never get another man and her hair would go white from crying every day and stress.
I am like sob the crabs will being you back into the barrel lol
Not even good enough that I leave her in position of being retired and able to get another dude who is wealthy.

Mainstreaming suicide is bad because the wrong people might get the idea that it’s acceptable to off themselves.

””””””’Society needs worker drones to maintain a tax base. It’s better for society if they pop SSRIs or lithium or whatever the magic pill du jour happens to be and do they duty.
(In a decade we’ll probably be able to reprogram depression and mani-depressive genes anyway.)
Most mooching, worthless idiots aren’t inclined to commit suicide.”””””””””’

Then of course they are not really needed anymore. Not with automated manufacturing and hydroponics. Don’t need all the create a job shit and restrictions on freedom.

””””You also have a funny interpretation of Hitler’s policy. He wasn’t some benevolent Jack Kevorkian. He didn’t ask if you wanted to be there or not. He decided. And that’s another problem with mainstreaming suicide.

    ”””””””’
Well ok yea he tortured the shit out some people but yea making descision for certain people is doing them a favor if their quality of life is never going to be high.

”””Society needs worker drones to maintain a tax base. It’s better for society if they pop SSRIs or lithium or whatever the magic pill du jour happens to be and do they duty.
    ”””
Only problem with that is they just become drueling vegetables with 0 ambition.

””’Mainstreaming suicide is bad because the wrong people might get the idea that it’s acceptable to off themselves.””””””

If they do though it will mean life was not worth the sacrifice of the effort at the time. Everyone left wants to be there for sure.

””””'(In a decade we’ll probably be able to reprogram depression and mani-depressive genes anyway.)”””””’

And then those people will just be worker drueling vegetables.

I think I don’t actually have depression so much as I constantly look at my life in terms of is it worth living.
I already decided in the past it is not worth the effort it takes to live but that did not overcome the fear of the unknown of death. So now I just evaluate shit based on will it allow me to overcome my fear of the unknown. What things am I not willing to tolerate while alive that let me keep toiling away at this shit.

I am pretty good at predicting outcomes of diferent things.

Like ok I know I can save this much money in this much time at this much income.

So what I do is look at it like is it worth it for me to put in the effort of putting in applications and getting job and working and putting up with rules and doing a good job and saving money every day to do what?
So that it was worth it.
I mean just drugework it every day is not my idea of worth it.

But if I wasn’t like this then I would have just been happy still working at little ceasers with no need to move on to anything.

So is it a problem to be like that?
Otherwise I would just be an average dude who never moved on from shit and just got stuck in first rut and never got to do anything exciting because everything was just fine and dandy to live like.
No matter where I was would just be fine lol
I mean I would never get the drive to ever achieve without feeling like where I am is bullshit and not worth the cost of living it.
So it actually causes me to put in extra effort if I can’t die so that I get to point where it is a higher balance of good than bad.

”””””’Society needs worker drones to maintain a tax base. It’s better for society if they pop SSRIs or lithium or whatever the magic pill du jour happens to be and do they duty.
(In a decade we’ll probably be able to reprogram depression and mani-depressive genes anyway.)”””’

That is actually scary everyone just fine no matter how shitty life is.

I would actually prefer the swedish method be more accepted so that the option is open. I may not have went through with it but it was there. So you know maybe people would not be so quick to socially engineer shit if they did it and people dropped like flies you would have some pretty quick feedback anyway.

Fuck the drug method of creating people who aren’t even human anymore.

In Sweden it is not to the same extent

    ”””””

Yea I was talking more of a permanent sleep in the new death tourist niche sweeden has going where they put you to nice peacefull sleep. I figure would have been a nice middle finger to society in a small way especially with what I have written on this blog. Especially since choosing to off yourself is considered such a big deal.
Really when they put me under for operation I don’t remember anything of being under and isn’t that when your like legally dead?

Thing is though my woman pulled an almost 10 out of her back pocket that is supposedly in love with me (which I could believe of course) and I got msexception coming to fuck maybe so maybe it would be worth it to work some more for that he he he
Then wife showed how it wasn’t in fact I wasn’t hurting her so much compared to me just going ahead and not being there for anyone.
and lilly said you need 200 mil he he he

It’s all about motivation fuck the degredation.

So if it is legal and accepted to go out with help from society then it is then societies problem to provide the proper motivation. Just like my woman had to come up with some as well for my nuclear shit test.

You can get a Vancouver $600K house still for about $180k-$300k (depends on a view) there and often with more acreage, in nice settings. Woods all around, with an occasional bear wandering along the rural road.”

Well that was accurate about 4-6 years ago. Last I checked the MLS listings, an average Vancouver special around Vic and Kingsway was at least 750k, maybe 700k for a shitbox. Sunshine Coast, while it is gorgeous (I’d love to move there myself) is still priced much higher that 180-300k. You’d be lucky to get an acre with a shack on it for 300K.

Best to look up in the Cariboo or Kootenays. Even Central coast (lots, I mean lots of Rain in the winter though – very gloomy). Comox Valley is also very nice. Still pricey. shit, I was in Tahsis last year, and houses were selling for over 200k! In fucking Tahsis, that end of the road worn out North Island defunct mill town. Good salmon fishing around there makes up for a lot of that.

As for Canada vs US….. I think that you Yanks will pull through. You create needless crises for yourselves which wreck things for the rest of us but you also have a tremendous capacity for self reinvention and rebuilding which we don’t have in Canuckistan because we haven’t needed to develop it. As Gorb said, reasonably competent risk averse management prevents crises from getting too big but also lowers the willingness to take risks to overcome those crises.

As for the photos, the one of the two tarted up little girls was the worst, sad and terrifying at the same time.

Vancouver housing bubble is popping now-

Prices did not go up because of population growth, it went up because of credit expansion.

The most important point: The government loosened underwriting standards. In effect, the government transfered risk from private to public primarily via he CMHC.

Brian Mulroney loosened immi status in 1986 and there has been a flood of people to Vancouver from then on. However, prices didnt begin to dramatically appreciate until 2001. Prices have doubled since then (more or less).

The relationship is not there. It is a credit contraction.

Miami is a good example. It is actually is exactly th same. We are a lovely city. Lots of immigration. Great weather. Finite amount of land. Yet, prices are down 50% here.

Songs about killing a woman who cheated on a guy. Songs about a guy who partied all night and was ready to shoot someone in the morning.

Lots of alpha songs too. Songs about a man who dumped a woman because she cheated on him and he knew he had the better chance of finding a good woman than his ex did. He sang, “I know you’ll find other fish in the sea but your bait aint what it used to be.”

Songs about a man telling a woman to get lost because she wasn’t pretty enough for him.

In Western Europe, nearly all countries have a sub-replacement fertility rate (<2.4), combined with lavish social welfare and pension committments. The middle and upper class have largely left the business of raising children.

Therefore, wholesale immigration is seen as the solution. They arrive, and work in difficult and low-paying jobs. They don't make much of an attempt to assimilate, and their hosts don't encourage them either (bilingual education is a very bad idea, by the way).

So, in the near future, most western countries will have two cultures: An affluent, but sclerotic, native citizens and a rapidly increasing economic immigrant class.

Such a situation will not remain stable.

none of the problem of “feminism” come from the actual concessions feminism gained for women socially–they come from the GOVERNMENT insulating women fromt he consequences of their choices by fiat.

the pill and women working still wouldnt have effected as much without the massive safety nets, affirmative action and make work provided by the GOVERNMENT. without all of theses things AND the government inventing and enforcing rules that twisted the workplace in women’s favor, women’s entre into work and civic life would have had very little disruptive effect.

without the government regime of child support laws, redistributive divorce settlement policies women having sexual liberation and out of wedlock babies wouldnt be as big a problem.

what we would have ended up with is the furry armed lawyer chicks being able to be the childless career women they would have always wanted to be with less friction while the mass of women were still left leading more or less traditional lives–the massive return to “stay at home mom” shows this–the whole movement was served only to push through the few women who probably could have made it on their own but with a little more friction–and it’s left the wreckage of the courts, family , schools and workplace in its wake

We think very much alike on this.

Feminist influenced propaganda in the entertainment media also had a lot to do with the skyrocketing divorce and out of wedlock child births since the sixties though. There was an enormous campaign to take all shame away from women for either divorcing or having and keeping and raising by themselves an unwed child. That had very much not been the culture before then and Hollywood and tv had previously supported that.

Instead all or virtually all blame for both high levels of divorce and single motherhood was put on “insufficiently evolved” neanderthal males.

If you know anything about Vancouver architecture, that quiz is easy. I got 16 out of 16. But those houses are all in Vancouver proper. 70,000+ people moving here a year, of course houses, even crappy ones, in the best part of town will go up in price. Even with interest rates going up, for every house that is foreclosed on, there will be a renter or new immigrant waiting to snap it up. If prices drop 50% as you seem to think, I’ll buy you a coke.

Speaking of which, here is the historical chart of property values in Vancouver. It very clearly starts it’s rise in 1987.

    http://www.affordablevancouverhomes.com/4a_custpage_416.html

    Tim:

It’s not that Canadians don’t want to punish murderers with jail time. It’s just that a sizeable number of them also think that it is acceptable to jail people for “hate crimes”, ie not wanting to hire or associate with certain types of people, or hurting their feelings with words. Life in micromanaged, “tolerant” Canada is insufferable for libertarians and conservatives alike, so I can see why many of them would want to move to the US. According to wikipedia, there are 700,000 Americans living in Canada, and 920,000 Canadians living in the US. So the numbers aren’t so different, but per capita it’s quite something.

I spent a good deal of wasted time trying to “make a difference” and help people in his stupid country via the corrupt and morally indefensible political and legal systems, and I regard that time as totally wasted.

The social contract was broken, if it ever really existed, long ago and there really are no rules or laws anymore worth following except for fear of punishment. And that’s not much of a deterrent really if you have a little brains and a little balls.

So I don’t give one shit whether the US destroys itself or not anymore. Fuck the oil slicks. Fuck the inner cities. Fuck everyone and everything not related to me or belonging to me.

It is really hard to have a community without people or with everyone having to have certain hours they have to work everyday. Not much room for spontaneity to be able to just drop what is actually unimportant and pick up what is important.

If everyone owns their own business everyone can close up at any time in order to take care of nonbusiness issues.

  397. Gorby, it is almost the same like in US. Big cities, mostly lefty tilt. Rural areas, conservative tilt. Western Canada is more conservative than Eastern Canada. Alberta is the most conservative province. Same dichotomy as in US in young vs older folks. Mugging by reality is a process that works across borders.

But there are some conservative Canucks here, you just don’t notice they are Canucks. Also, CCs are mostly busy. You know, working, raising families and doing things what normal people do. They, including womenfolk, are mostly traditional, so a lesser need to frequent here. But they should, the poison is spreading. Better be ready to deal with contingencies or prevent them altogether than to get whacked one fateful day.

One of the diff between US and Canada is the banking. Canada went through a liberal banking period in early 1990’s, but as it proved to be a disaster (a mild one in comparison with what is going on in US, but it was not pleasant), the banking industry got on very conservative footing. Canadian banking is one of the most stable in the world, if not the most stable. Also, many a crown corporation (provincially run enterprises) got privatized since beginning of the millennium. There are more conservative trends in today’s Canada than the opposite. A mirror image of what is happening in US.

Else, as in US, reunions (but tougher) and quotas on other immigration, based on merit or capital. Not many illegal immigrants, mostly people overstaying their visa.

Welfare… has been scaled down radically at the end of 90’s, at least in Western Canada. Dunno what the rules are at present, but heard it’s tough, no more laissez faire welfare like it was a dozen or so years ago and term limits in BC.

But a regular Joe… a diff story. Just don’t offer any (ANY) entitlements and Joe would find something useful to do what would bring a paycheck and problem solved.

Messicans… most of ’em hard working people. The net loss is not because of them but because of policies. Institute seasonal wok permits and don’t provide any taxpayer paid services. The net loss would turn into a net gain. It is so mindbogglingly simple. Once the work permits are instituted, throw any illegals out.

Welfare–3 months (6 months max if you sign up for a self-employment program with a seed loan (not grant!) of $5k-$15k if your biz plan qualifies) and basta. No application for welfare assistance accepted for the next 3 years. Pick berries.

I see that you have there a well reasoned discourse /sarc

Ahm, no. One may consider that in old times the seed was an equivalent of genes (that term was established by Mendel in late 19th century).

But “state” really cared fig about your seed. Maybe the original polity that was formed on the basis of kinship. But that was a long time ago. Once the polities started to aggregate to form states (kingdoms), the kinship was no longer the primary concern. It was replaced by culture and the primary concern of the state was an establishment of trust so people do not kill each other on faintest perception of mischief from a stranger (not of kin). In time, the main purpose of state became the state itself. A self-perpetuating entity that as an afterthought has some degree of concern about well-being of its citizens. But your genes? No. You are replaceable, as state sees it. It just does enough for you to prevent general mayhem, but you are just a part of the statistical framework. As long as you personally don’t deviate from the mean, the state leaves you relatively alone, provided that you pay taxes (to support state apparatus–the roads and infrastructure and military are usually a minor part of the state expenditures) and follow any large scale experimental agenda for a “better world”. Governing body is an abstraction, sort of a Platonic ideal. For the most of history, the state was a ruling body.

State must be tamed, or it does not know where to stop in meddling in its citizens’ lives. Once the society stratifies into elites and the rest, the behemoth becomes entirely its own purpose.

Do you know what a genetic bottleneck is? A point in time and space where there is not enough genetic variety. It was a serious problem during the black death sweeps through Europe (2/3 fatalities in general and some localities were wiped out entirely). It is not a smart thing to do to put all your eggs into one basket.

Nation as it was defined in 18th and 19th century is not a group of people related by birth, but a group of people that were born in localities that were related by culture and language. Yes, usually there was a closer degree of kinship in a nation that historically resides in certain boundaries. But then, you research family names and genealogies, and you have to conclude that people moved around as they pleased (and sometimes under circumstances not so pleasing). Only very isolated tribes in some inaccessible regions are “pure breeds”. The rest of us are all mongrels, but as such we are able to spread our genetic map and cover a lot more contingencies than the “purebreds”.

    This distills down to:

    1) Protecting citizens from external threats.

    2) Providing an orderly mechanism for determining if somebody is a criminal, and removing criminals from society.

    3) Providing a court system for working out disputes between citizens.

A government which goes too much beyond these core functions tends to slide down into tyranny. Particularly when it takes up the function of a socialistic welfare state.

Secondly, the media and government have a huge hand in promoting leftism. The CBC and most newspapers are very left wing. Multiculturalism is promoted in schools at brainwashing levels, and most adults who might be conservative self-censor, because Canadians don’t like rocking the boat.

The immigrants are not compelled to adapt as they do not have to interact beyond their cultural niveau and form cultural islands withing the society.

In fact, attempts for automatization of livestock production lead to unhealthy animals that are pumped up full of antibiotics (one day, that would really kick our ass a big time)and in movement restricted space, resulting in a substandard, tasteless meat… in fact, it is hard to distinguish between chicken and tomato, both taste like a cardboard.

Since robotics aren’t quite there yet, corporations (due to excessive regulations and taxation) elected the next best thing–slave labor in third world. Just stating the fact without qualifications. People that would have no means of income in 3WC now have a meagre income that can sustain them, so there is some positive effect, just not for Americans.

In US, that meant a reduction of manufacturing sector and entire job sectors gone. And there can be only that many burger flippers…

With manufacturing gone, not that much to trade with. The trade imbalance and expanding government sector -> debt. It’s growing. There is a site somewhere that gauges the figures in real time. Itsa whirl. A dizzying whirl.

  449. Morsellaux,

I have no doubt that the West is on a backslide. But these photos are kind of arbitrary. They do well to illustrate the androgyny and obesity and trashiness plaguing civilization, and they make us laugh as well. It makes it easier to assume that masculinity and femininity were rock solid and static up until about 60 years ago, and that things have been going downhill ever since. But I think it feeds too much into the old timer’s game of waxing nostalgic over some magical era that never truly existed (or, if you’re a feminist or liberal, demonizing that same era for its supposed oppression).

This phenomena even exists in reverse, wherein people reminisce about less “gentrified” times that were actually rife with crime and poverty (e.g., NYC in the 70s). In any case, longing for the past is counter-productive. Better to move to a country with more well-defined “gender roles” (sorry) and a better sense of self-determination.

I do agree overall that we’re devolving though. It used to be that people got fed up and revolted against the government. Today the government could just as easily revolt against the people – since we can barely self-govern.

you should’ve used scientific studies have shown that, or scientists have shown that before you wrote anything, so that they may at least use the google on their own.
anyway you wouldn’t have won them over, if anything, you could have given them back as good as you got.
though editing your comments to include their own goes to show how btchy that forum is.

There is a word for it–projection.
If you are a conservative (classical liberal)/on the right, you must be a nazi (disregarding the fact that fascism and nazism were leftist ideologies).

Eugenics too was a result of a “progressive” thought. It is a part and parcel of making the “better world”.

The conservatives don’t want to remake the world into utopia, that is the prerogative of the left. And since making an utopia is to deny the human nature as it presently expresses itself, the kulaks (or whatever label is impromptu made for the occasion) have to be eliminated.

Maybe, but depending on your age, you may one day realize that you ran out of countries to move to.

I left the Iron Curtain region in 1984. And from the look of it, it seems that what I got was just a 25 years break–the leftist poison is now all around here. I think I’ll draw a line in the sand this time.

read your starting posts there, I think you got off right in the middle of things. skimming over the first few pages

the differences in sexual dimorphism among the chimps and humans might explain most of the social behavior.

bonobos are kinda feminist fantasy, but they are violent species,
notice the non-violence practiced by this bonobo scientist:

    http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/intersection/2010/05/31/women-against-violence-be-more-bonobo/

I can’t find an article about the cause for the utopian presentation as non-violent beings simply fornicating at the sign of any conflict, but this also seems to make the same points

I should of figured some shit like that.

Yea I am not naive enough to be able to believe the semi utopia I see before me now will be like this in 25 years.

They already have the adds on tv about how horrible chickens are treated or some shit.

And adds about the meat people buying sitting there for too long and how you could get sick and die from buying from the small time people who sell it.

The starting of the brainwashing to fear the food supply so that you can start instituting the rules to take away small business.

    Which of course is bullshit.
It is all fucking bullshit on the god dam tv there to cause fear in woman to make them feel like they are not taking care of their families for not cow towing the line on buying from only big business food sources.

The beef is fresher now than in states and the chicken is fresher than the states. As in like just fucking killed.

Hey there are no rules really on food production. People wash dishes for a fried rice place on the street sidewalk.
    I ain’t dead yet.
    Somethings happening here.
    What it is
    is exactly clear.
Theres box telling you to beware
of everything that you shouldn’t even fear
It is time we stop children whats that sound
It is the sound of the bullshit box telling lies
we are told to fear the poor
but when you live with them you just get ignored
    paranoia strikes deep
into your heart it will creep
it starts when your always afraid
you step out of line the man come to take you away.
Its time we stop children whats that sound
    everybody look whats going down.

Gun, Ahh so you do admit that it can be done now we get down to the nitty gritty he he he

    so would I

Sam Spade, I dunno. What would be a correct (not false) dichotomy in your opinion?

If we disregard visual impressions that belong to different contexts and just take some facts, there is still enough indications that the decline is real.

It gives me no pleasure that declare that I am becoming a devolutionist.
    ””””””””
But yea I see the only way to save this countries way of life from turning into a carbon copy of west one day is to turn it into an automated powerhouse so the people still have the time to do what they do now and put family first while at the same time having shitloads of loot.
They all most all have a hectare of land to work with.
So to give them a defense against the greed make them all rich in as fast as possible way. I don’t know.
Probably just a pipedream though he he he
But they did go from not growing enough food to having a surplus in like 20 years. So with the right implementation instead of just carbon copy tv from when I was young.
Or yea destroy every other country in the world.

I mean bad shit happens and people die from shit but the tv makes it seem like every bad thing is happening right in your neighborhood even though it is not. The tv is just pulling all the bad shit from a group of 100’s of millions of people and they still have trouble not repeating themselves on a 24 hour news channel.

People can’t stay away from processed food. All of those chemicals get in you and the body doesn’t know what to do with them, so they just stay there and build up as fat and you get cancer because you shouldn’t have those chemicals in your system.

“it would seem easy to support a family on $75,000. Obviously 98% of the world does it. But in the US economy, in order to find the 75,000 job, you have to live in a city that support these salaries. Housing in these areas, in safe neighborhoods where you would be comfortable raising your kids, is expensive.”

In safe neighborhoods is the money quote. Even poor people lived in “safe neighborhoods” in our cities in the past. The hyper-inflation of “safe” is a direct result of the racial beliefs and policies of the elite. Detroit isn’t a hellhole because of problems in the auto industry, and everybody knows it. No conspiracy? Please.
